Jaxon
Sara looked so small and fragile lying against me on the bed. Her eyes were puffy and her nose was red. I could tell she was working hard to keep the tears behind her eyes. It always hurt me that she worked so hard to keep her pain inside. I didn’t want her to feel as if she couldn’t show me this side of her, but I said nothing.
"I don’t know if I’m ready," she mumbled against my chest. I wasn’t quite sure I heard her right.
"What?"
She lifted her head up now and looked at me. Her eyes were glossy, and I knew she would lose the fight soon. She balled up the edges of my shirt in her fisted hands. I brushed my hand continually against her arm and tried to help her feel as comfortable and safe as possible.
"I want kids. Being pregnant really made me realize that, but I don’t know if I’m ready. I’m scared…" Her voice trailed off, and she turned her eyes away from me.
