"Check out this baby," my husband announced with a proud grin, gesturing to his new gun safe that had been delivered that morning. "This thing is the real deal! It's got it all. Biometric scanner, reinforced steel, the whole nine yards! There isn't a safe cracker in the world who could get into this one. And believe me, I've asked around."
I did believe that Jaxon had, in fact, asked around. While I wasn't exactly thrilled that my husband had been using his mafia contacts for any reason, I wasn't going to argue the point. At least, not this time. I had asked him to find a replacement for his 'gun in the cookie jar' method of security, and he had come through in a big way.
"Thank you so much," I replied, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Excellent job, babe. Camilla and I greatly appreciate you taking our safety seriously."
Camilla smiled and giggled in response to her name, waving her tiny arms to ask to be picked up and taken out of her playpen.
