Sara
When I finally opened my eyes, I felt achier than I had the night before. It took me a minute to register everything and realize what had happened. I felt like I wanted to cry all over again when it all came rushing back. I looked around the room and saw that Jaxon was asleep in the chair in the corner. I felt relieved. Despite how angry I was, I didn’t really want to be away from him. I knew that I was still always safest when he was around.
"Good morning," came a cheery voice. I turned my stiff neck to see a nurse come in, holding an electronic chart. "How are you feeling this morning Sara?"
She was too perky and upbeat for me but I forced a smile anyway.
"I’m doing alright. I’m a little sore," I answered.
She nodded and her smile faltered just a little.
"That’s perfectly normal. Unfortunately, because of your sensitive pregnancy we can’t give you any pain medication but some light massaging," she said, glancing over at Jaxon, "and some warm compresses will help."
