I helped Sara back down to the chair while I ran through the house and grabbed our to-go bag for the hospital. I knocked on Dana’s door frantically and she opened it, looking like she had already been asleep.
"Sara’s water broke. She’s going into labor. I need you to stay here with Camilla, make sure everything is alright. I’ll keep you updated," I explained.
Dana’s eyes widened.
"Yes, of course! Of course. Camilla and I will be just fine!"
"Thanks!" I disappeared back down the stairs with the bag in hand.
I moved to help Sara up and toward the car. It was clear she was still mad and not excited about being near me at the moment. I couldn’t blame her, but I couldn’t focus on that at the moment either. I had to get her to the hospital.
I started the engine and tore out of the driveway. I tried to drive as safely as I could while still going quickly. Sporadically, Sara would scream from contractions. I jolted almost every time.
