I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. This asshole didn't know anything. If he did, I would have no problem beating it out of him. This was my family we were talking about. But it was obvious the guy didn't know shit.
"Let him go," I told Marino's guys. "If he doesn't have my kids, then we've got not no business with him, and no time to fuck around."
We were back to square one. I really thought we had a lead. Now I didn't know what to think.
His men did as they were told, even though I could tell some of them didn't like it much. One big guy with a crew cut was giving me the evil eye. His name was Doug, and I was about to ask Doug if he had a problem. But instead I gave him my special look. The look that asked if he wanted to die today, and he backed down.
Doug didn't give the orders around here, thank Christ.
