When I woke up, Jaxon was gone and I had a splitting headache. I felt strange, like I wasn't fully awake, or maybe still dreaming. I wasn't sure. In any case, even if my husband wasn't around, I was far from alone. My mother, Jaxon's mother, Lauren and Tori were all there. Not to mention some strange guy in a white coat. 


"Hey, welcome back," my mom said gently, sitting on the side of my bed. "How are you feeling?" 


How was I feeling? How did she think I was feeling?

I was of course referring to the weird guy in the white coat. He was bald, with a full beard. And despite his attire, he didn't seem like a doctor to me. There was something about him. I couldn't put my finger on it, but something was off.
