Sara
I checked my phone for the millionth time, looking for any kind of communication from Jaxon.
We hadn't spoken since he'd left to pursue the lead from Marino's men. I was hopeful but anxious. I so badly wanted this entire ordeal to be over already; I needed to have my babies back in my arms where I knew they were safe.
I felt like I was going crazy, lying in bed while my kids were who knows where. My imagination was running wild with all the terrible things they could be suffering, and I didn't know how to reel it back in.
I jumped when my phone buzzed, fumbling as I tried to pick it up quickly. Lauren looked up from her magazine from beside my bed, watching me with eager eyes as I finally picked up the phone and checked the message.
*The lead was a dead end. It wasn't Dana.*
I was quiet for a few minutes as I just stared at my phone with unseeing eyes. This had been my worst fear when Jaxon had left today, that he wouldn't be able to find Dana.
