Work started to pile up since I had taken so much time off when the children were missing. I felt like I was never going to catch up on all the approvals and emails I needed to respond to, though I did feel better about actually coming into the office and sitting at work when I knew that Sara was happy that we had the mafia guarding her and the children. 


The way she had thanked me for it was strange and almost made me feel as if she was happy to be back in the mafia. After so much time out of it, I wondered if she had finally started to see the benefits of being a part of it. It offered a lot of resources and protection for us that wasn’t available in regular civilian life. It brought on a new sense of calm and excitement to think that Sara might be coming around to being in the mafia again.
