Several Years Later
After everyone had gone to bed, I sat in the office looking at a photo of my wedding to Jaxon.
It seemed so long ago now. So much had happened. It seemed like ages ago that I had all the troubles with my father that led to our marriage.
I thought about all the time Jaxon and I had alone before we had kids. Now we had teenagers, and I couldn't believe it. Camilla was sixteen and practically a woman. She knew the truth about our business and situation.
Cameron desperately wanted to be involved in it all–something I never thought I would tolerate. Now we all worked together as a family in both businesses and the new charitable organization we had started. I couldn't believe how much Camilla had contributed.
I looked up with a flinch and held my knife tightly in my hand when I heard a noise. I threw the knife and narrowly missed Jaxon's head. The knife buried itself in the door frame. Jaxon's eyes widened and looked back and forth from the knife to me.
