The next few weeks passed like a dream. My parents continued to be supportive of my relationship with Michael, and we'd even had dinner together a couple of times.
At first, I had to admit, my father seemed tense when we'd all sat down together, and I couldn't really blame him for that. But it was Michael who was finally able to break the strained atmosphere by asking my dad if he'd brought his shotgun to the restaurant.
Even my father had to laugh at Michael's joking acknowledgement of the strange circumstances we found ourselves in. And after that, things were much easier between them.
I only wished I could spend more time with Michael. My daycare business was really taking off, and I had children to watch nearly every day. I loved the kids, and I was having a great time coming up with fun activities for us to do together.
