Camilla
The crowd of people stood gathered in embraces and relieved hugs until the sun was firmly in the sky. My parents gathered around with some others, including Michael, and talked about what to do next to ensure the safety of our family.
I held Isabella close. She twirled my hair in her finger and rested her head on my shoulder.
When they were finally finished, I felt relieved. All I wanted was to be somewhere safe with Michael and Isabella. I just wanted to hold them both and relish the fact that we were all safe.
I took the keys from Michael and insisted he sit in the back with Isabella, partly because we didn’t have a car seat and someone needed to hold her, partly because I knew he didn’t want to be separated from her at all, even just by being in the driver’s seat.
