I didn’t have time to feel the momentary relief of finding these children, though I was happy some of them were safe now.
I watched as the men took the children away and guided them to the safe area we had established. Then I turned my attention back to Michael. We still needed to find Isabella and the others. I could tell from the look on Michael’s face he felt the same.
There was a loud noise that sounded like crushing metal and broken glass. Then the screams filled the air. Listening to several children scream at once was horrible and heartbreaking. All I could picture was Isabella hurt or bleeding and screaming for someone to help her. I wondered if she’d ask for me. I knew she would ask for Michael. I couldn’t stand it. I needed to save her. Michael and I ran quickly to the sound.
