*Oliver*
As much as I didn’t want to leave Harper, I had to go talk to Jolee. My mission now was to convince her that Harper and I were a good match. We were going to live together, and Jolee would have to accept it.
I told Harper that I’d call her in a few days when I made things right with Jolee. Working on my daughter wouldn’t be easy, but I’d make it happen. Harper was too important to me. Jolee would see that I was serious about her. We were a good fit.
When I pulled up at the house, I noticed none of the lights were on. It wasn’t that late, just about twilight. It was getting dark enough that there should have been lights on.
“Jolee?” I called when I let myself in.
No response. I tossed my keys in the bowl by the door, and I went up to Jolee’s room. I knocked, but there was no answer. I opened the door.
Her room was empty. Her suitcase was in the closet, though, and none of her clothes were missing.
She was probably out with friends.
