“If that is what you think is best, grandmother, then of course I will,” I tell Dora, fighting to keep my voice from betraying my disgust at her suggestion, “Provided that you hold up your end of the bargain, of course. If you harm my family in any way at all, then all bets are off. And you know how I can be when people don’t keep their word.” 


I need for her to believe my threat  And as no one was more feared than I when I served under my grandmother, It seems advantageous to remind her  of my youth.
