Chapter 148: The last witness
***
Levi’s POV
“Please, please stop,” Lenora pleads, “I don’t understand why you’re doing this!”
I do understand, I think. They believe they’re eliminating the last witness to their crimes. Unfortunately for them, they are very wrong.
“Are you ready,” I ask Elliot and Diego, and they nod in reply, “Let’s do this!”
We burst into the room, guns drawn. We are apparently just in time, as Erick has a gun pointed at Lenora’s head. The other two, whose names appeared in Dora’s ledger, stare at us in surprise. Neither have weapons, and I can see the fear in their eyes.
“Well, we meet again Levi,” says Erick evenly, “Don’t tell me you’re here for her. I can’t imagine why you would trouble yourself with Lenora. She’s no one you need to worry about.”
“I am,” I affirm, keeping my weapon trained on his head, “She’s innocent, and you know that. She’s done nothing to you. Let her go.”
