Chapter Eighteen

'I'll be back in a couple of days.' I read the text over and over before pressing send them turning my location off.

It's 11:00 at night. I've been waiting on Lily to finish booking our rooms for a while. I stood up and walked to the desk beside her.

"What's taking so long?"

She looked at me,"I forgot I booked one room, for you only. But now I'm here and they don't have any extra rooms."

Oh god.

"That's fine, we can share."

The receptionist gave us two keys as the men grabbed our bags. We followed them to our room. This wasn't my first time in a hotel in Africa, but this was beyond extraordinary.

Better than most of the hotels in the United States that's for sure.

Lily opened the door. The men sat our luggage down.

"Enjoy your stay." They said before leaving.

I sighed and fell backwards on the bed,"You're sleeping on the floor."

"Ok Cameron." She replied sarcastically while going into the bathroom.

Did she know I could fire her? The shower was turned on as my phone started to ring. Aurora? It's 12:00 at night.

I answer the FaceTime. Looking into the camera, she rolled her eyes.

"Where are you?"

"Africa."

"I'm tired and I have to get up early, goodnight." I added.

"Cameron!? Can you bring me my toothbrush?" Lily yelled.

Why!? I wanted to cry! Why isn't the universe ever on my side!? Aurora glared at me. If looks could kill I would've been dead years ago.

"Lily had to come with me for a meeting. We share a room." I quickly said.

It didn't matter. She ended the call. I'm tired. What is this? Karma? From who? I don't bother anybody.

Was anybody praying that Aurora and I separate? After ten minutes, she still haven't called back. So I texted her.

Goodnight, I love you 🖤.

She instantly read it.

No reply.

Hmmmm.....

Im not cheating on you with anyone....so love me back!

Read it again. I give up. I'm to sleepy, maybe she will feel different tomorrow. I put the phone on the stand, took off my pants and shirt and got under the cover.

Before I knew it, darkness had took over.

I groaned. We watch as the children continued to eat their food. As much food I brought, they could eat on this for months.

I should be enjoying this moment but I haven't heard from Aurora all day and it's bothering me.

Omg i sound like a bitch.

"We're done. Do you want to fly back home tonight or wait until morning?" Lily asked me.

"I want to get there by morning Lily, so we should leave now."

She nodded then walked off to make some calls. Someone tapped my shoulder making me turn around.

Oh gosh. She looks familiar. Probably not, I see a lot of people multiple times over the years.

"You dropped this." She said handing me my Drivers License.

I dropped this? Oh right I don't have a wallet. I've definitely seen her face before. I reached out and grabbed the card.

"Thank your neighbor Cameron." Lily said from behind me.

That's weird. How did she know she was my neighbor? Wait a minute, Neighbor? We moved into the suburbs when we found out Aurora was pregnant.

But last time I checked our neighbors was old.

"Thank you."

And what was she doing in Africa? Probably same as me, we both were filthy rich. It warms my heart to see other people giving back.

"Cameron? Auroras Cameron?" She asked looking me up and down then frowning.

Did this motherfucker just judge me? Who the fuck was she?

"Is that a problem?"

Her body guards moved closer and pushed me. I immediately pushed back, I wasn't a bitch. The two started to surround me.

"Stop! Stop! We're leaving!" Lily said pulling me from the circle.

I looked the woman up and down. My first time meeting her and she already has a problem with me.

That's life.

I turned around and walked to the car that's taking us to the airstrip. Lily talked to the woman for a while before getting in beside me.

"I don't want to hear it Lily, they pushed me first."

Lately she's been nagging saying I should stop giving into people, it hurts my image. And if it hurts my image, it hurts my money.

But my money says otherwise.

She grabbed my head and pulled me closer,"You've killed every person from that night. I've held my tongue long enough, you've not afraid of going to jail? Getting killed?"

Oh.

That.

"No. Less bad people in the world."

She dropped it. I would definitely give my life to save others. Imagine how many more people would've been in my shoes if I hadn't killed them.

The plane ride was silent, too silent, was she mad at me? I didn't care if she was. After my nap, I woke up about ten minutes before landing.

Lily was reading her book on the other side.

"How did you know that she was my neighbor?"

She looked up,"She told me one night at a dinner party, that you didn't attend."

"She judged me the moment she looked at me." I mumbled.

Lily laughed,"She judged you? How?"

I ignored her making her laugh harder. Again, this why I don't tell her anything. Especially how I feel.

"You're so naïve. I suggest you bake her cookies and take them by her house later on today as an apology."

Cookies? Not me.

"Don't do that! don't take her cookies. She did mentioned that Aurora invited her and her husband over for dinner tonight." Lily added.

Dinner? I wasn't informed about that. Oh right because either I'm avoiding Aurora or when we talk, the only thing she says is I'm cheating.

I walked off the plane. Lily Mercedes was parked beside my car. The drive back to my house was peaceful. It wasn't as much traffic. It was 5:30 in the morning, that's probably why.

Unlocking the door, I immediately heard loud R&B music playing. I sighed. I hope she wasn't cheating.

The kids must not be here.

I put my luggage in the guest room and continued walking to the living room. Aurora sat on the couch with her eyes closed and a glass of wine.

She was drunk.

And crying?

I took the wine from her making her open her eyes. Heat rose up my back, why am I guilty? Her watery blood red eyes looked at me.

Did I cheat on her?

I got to think! I don't remember cheating! Why is she so sad? I grabbed her hand and motioned for her to stand.

She tried but immediately fell backwards. I caught her and picked her up. Her legs wrapped around my body as she put her head in my neck.

I turned off the music and carried her upstairs.

I laid her down then pull of my pants and socks. Who sleeps in socks? No one.

After laying down and pulled Aurora closer, I was fast asleep.

Until I smelled food.

I quickly jumped up, showered, and brushed my teeth. Walking downstairs, the house looked way better than it did last night.

She stood over the stove cooking breakfast. It doesn't look like she drunk anything last night. I walked to the balcony and sat down in the chairs.

Not long she walked out with two plates and handed me one.

Is she trying to kill me?

We started to eat in silence as she continue to glanced at me.

Oh god.

She killing me, she's gonna kill me.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked her.

"Did I do something to make you think I'm cheating? Or whatever it is you think I'm doing...?" I added.

She didn't respond. I sat my empty plate on the table and leaned back. When she finished eating I tapped my lap making her crawl on top.

She pulled out her gun and her phone.

I swallowed as she pulled up a picture. Me and Lily? This is fake! Or is that Mia? The head is turned, Lily and Mia had some of the same features.

Ok they had all features.

Except eye color.

"What does this means? Lily and I were talking." I mumbled.

She started to swipe. Some pictures was from when Lily and I have lunch together with a group of other people or sometimes with only Lily and I.

She hired someone to stalk me on my lunch break?

Oh god, not just my break. There was pictures of me and Lily walking the beach as she held my arm.

"You hired someone to follow me?" I asked her putting the phone down.

"What do you see in those pictures that suggests Lily and I are messing around? She was my friend before I met you Aurora." I added.

She rolled her eyes,"She is in love with you! You do things with her that you should be doing with me!"

I didn't respond, I didn't care if Lily was head over heels for me. I got who I want.

"She haven't been in a relationship since she started working for you. That doesn't ring any bells?"

I smacked my lips,"You're upset over lunch dates? What the hell? But if that's what's bothering you I will stop. I hate to argue with you." I said to her.

Of course I get what she's saying. If she was an outsider looking in, it would look like Lily and I was more than friends. Especially when we're together.

She leaned down and kissed my lips,"I love you, so much."

"I love you too."

She smirked,"Then you would text your assistant and tell her you won't be coming to work this week."

I picked both of us up,"She'll get the memo."

She jumped down,"I have to season the meat, we're having a barbecue today. Your mother should be here any minute."

I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer,"Quickie?"

"Nope." She said laughing and pushing me off.

I followed behind her into the kitchen. The shirt she was wearing showed my name on her body as clear as day.

Her name was on my chest.

She slightly turned to look at me making me throw a finger sign. I turned the music back up on her phone and helped her season the meat.

The front door opened and little feet ran down the hall.

"Stop running!" Aurora yelled as I turned the corner to greet the kids.

Layla reached for me to pick her up. I grabbed paper towels and washed my hands before hugging the little girl.

"I hope you don't mind Aurora, they are helping me bring the grocery in." My mother said as a tall man walked behind Aurora dad.

"I think that's our cue to leave." I whispered to Layla making her laugh.

I smiled, she didn't understand none I just said.

"Cameron." Aurora called.

"This is Frank and His wife Lillian." She said making me look up.

The man held his hand out. I looked at it then back at him before shaking it. He is as worse as I thought.

His face screamed snitch.

Cold grey eyes stared at me. I ignored her and continued to take Layla outside by the pool. The boys was playing on the miniature basketball goal.

"Cameron! I need you to go to the store." Aurora said from the inside.

I groaned walking back into the house. Everytime they have a barbecue, someone forget something. I think they do it on purpose now.

Drug dealers don't barbecue.

Aurora handed me the list and her dads keys.

"I'm not a do-boy." I said to her.

She laughed and grabbed my cheeks,"You're my do-boy."

Someone bumped into me making me look over my shoulder. Lucas? Was he still mad for Mia sending that picture? Aurora grabbed my arms before I could reach out to grabbed him.

She kissed my lips,"Hurry back."

Lucas laughed sarcastically. What's wrong with him? I didn't do anything to him. My mother turned to looked at him and so did I.

"Is it a problem Lucas?" I asked the boy.

I realized the other two men was outside grilling and watching the children, this gave me the perfect opportunity to ask was anything wrong.

Except all of the women was still around.

"Yep, it is. I find it funny that Aurora was just screaming my name out the other day. Now she's in love with you? How does that work?" He asked laughing a little.

The house was dead silent.

Or was I about to faint?

Was my heart silent? Did I lose my hearing?

I give up, the universe is never on my side.

A gun cocked and Lucas was put to his knees.

"Tell her you're lying." Aurora hissed putting the gun to his head.

He laughed,"I'm not though. She thought she could have Mia and get away with it but karmas a bitch."

"Aurora." My mother threatened.

Aurora face was beet red.

All I ever ask out of my women was to be faithful. I could vomit knowing that someone else dick was inside of something I've had my mouth on.

What could be worse? My wife sleeping with my best friend or my wife fucking a random in public.

"Baby he's lying." Aurora cried out.

Wait a minute.

I FaceTime Aurora the night I didn't stay here and she was home. And the next night I was home, when did they fuck?

I laughed.

Time to see if he's lying.

"I wasn't here, did you have sex with my wife in my house?" I asked him.

He smirked Then nodded,"We was waiting for you to leave."

Aurora started to curse at him again as I pulled out my phone. She didn't know I had cameras installed. Why would I tell her?

I'm serious about protecting my heart.

I started the video from that night, so far the only thing she did was watched tv and played on her phone.

Was she drinking? She didn't leave the house at all that night, nor did Lucas come over.

Why would he lie? Wasn't we best friends?

"Let him up Aurora. We have company." I told her while eyeing the neighbor.

She hasn't said a word. She doesn't even look shocked. She probably did background checks on us before moving in.

"Why did you lie?" I asked the boy.

Aurora pressed the button on her watch making bodyguards come from each door.

"Take him to the shack." She hissed.

Everyone that goes to shack gets tortured. Never killed. I watched as the guards picked him up and carried him out. Mia didn't say anything.

This wasn't his first time?

"I'll go to the store for you Cameron." She finally said.

Lillian stood up as well,"I'm going with her."

My mother took the pan of raw food outside to the men. Aurora looked at me and sighed. Why did everyone leave me with her?

"Did you and Mia have sex?"

Of all fucking questions.

"He seemed so certain that the two of you did."

I rolled my eyes. I would know if I've had sex with Mia or not. She grabbed my face and pulled me into a kiss.

Why did I feel way better?

Because I love her.

And I want to fuck.

This is just a book I decided to write with anything big happening.

Might be a part two though. 💪🏾
