Chapter 5

Camilla came in and stood quietly waiting for him to tell her the reason he asked her to come.

Damien faced his laptop and acted like there was no one else in the office apart from himself.

Camilla stood close to forty minutes, her ankles were on fire already. So she took turns in resting her weight on one leg or the other.

"Prepare for a meeting that we have with Mr Davis next tomorrow," Damien said, handing her a file.

She let out a sigh of relief immediately after he said those words, at least she knew she wasn't invisible.

She took the files from him and walked out of the office, limping in the process.

She checked her ankles immediately after she got to her office and gasped loudly.

It was swollen and red.

She scrunched up her face in pain as she started massaging it.

Almost immediately, the intercom on her desk rang and she stood and headed to Damien's office, still limping.

"Email that project to me once you're done," He said.

She nodded and left.

Damien looked up from his computer and stared at the door, he smirked dangerously.

"I'm just starting with you," He let out.

Camilla angrily sitting in her office preparing for the presentation. Damien gave her a lot of files telling her to finish them before the end of that day.

She became hungry and tired but whenever she remembers the ultimatum he gave her, A surge of strength will rush into her immediately.

Almost immediately, her bell desk rang and she sighed deeply before leaving the office.

Camilla was in Damien's office standing while he dictated a note for her.

Her ankles hurt a lot right now and it takes a lot of determination and effort for her to still be able to stand.

Damien glanced at her and saw her feeling uneasy, he felt happy instantly.

He called her closer and checked her notes but was shocked by her accuracy was what baffled him.

"Why is she so good?" He thought to himself.

"Sir, can I go?" She asked nervously, looking downwards.

"No! Wait till I'm done with you," He said with a note of finality.

Camilla sighed, she has never been scared of any man, no matter his financial status but she doesn't know why she feels scared whenever she is with him.

There's this strange aura she feels around him, but she doesn't know what it is.

"You can leave," He finally said and she nodded before leaving.

During the lunch break, Camilla went to eat in the cafeteria, She was eating at her table when a young man came towards her.

Camilla stared at him keenly, trying hard to know if she'd met him before.

"Come on, don't stare too much. I'm just sharing a table with you, everywhere is full that's why," He explained and she nodded smilingly.

"Can we just talk at least to pass time?" He inquired.

She shook her head negatively, still stuffing food in her mouth.

"I'm sorry but as you can see, I'm in a hurry. I have a lot of work pending," She explained with her mouth full of food.

"At least take it easy," He said and she smiled and stood

"I'm full, bye," She confessed and limped off.

"But…" He tried asking her what happened to her leg, but she was gone already.

Camilla was at the office attending to the files when she suddenly remembered that she hadn't heard from her mum that day. She took her phone from her purse and dialled her mum's number.

She picked at the fifth ring.

"Mum," She smiled.

"My angel," Her Mum replied.

"How have you been?" Camilla inquired.

"I'm good dear, and Larissa is here..." Mrs Tyler was talking till she interrupted her.

"Wow, didn't she go back?" Camilla interrogated shockingly.

"She went and came back but this time with her luggage," She explained.

"What?" Camilla swiftly stood shockingly.

After completing all the tasks assigned to her by her boss, Camilla started preparing to go home.

Camilla's leg pain has reduced, but the swollen size hasn't reduced, she was able to massage it at the office and that's why she's been able to walk around.

When she reached, she placed a light knock on the door and Larissa came out to open it.

"I'm back!" Camilla flung her bag and fell on the cushion, groaning tiredly

"Bestie!" They hugged.

"I thought mum was pranking me when she said you were around," Camilla said and Larissa smiled, disengaging from the hug.

"Well, I'm here now. How was your first day at work?" Larissa asked immediately after they disengaged from the hug.

"It went well," She smiled nervously, hiding her legs behind the other.

Mrs Tyler, who was coming out of her room because of the noise, smiled lightly.

"Yay, You mean He didn't stress you?" Larissa whispered shockingly while she shook her head negatively.

"I'm happy for you Milla," Larissa hugged her again.

"Thanks, bestie," She smiled, pulling out of the hug.

"Mum!" She spread out her hands and walked towards her, pulling her into a tight hug.

Mrs Tyler chuckled and patted her back.

"Welcome back," She cooed.

"Thanks, mummy," She broke the hug.

"How was your first day at work?" Mrs Tyler asked.

"It was fine," She lied.

'Telling Mum how I was being pushed hard wouldn't be the right thing to do,' She thought.

"Larissa will be sharing a room with you, so you'll have to manage her snoring habits," Mrs Tyler explained.

"Hahaha, not funny," Larissa rolled her eyes.

Everyone laughed, including Larissa.

"But, I want to know what you're doing here with your luggage," She arched her brows.

"I left home," She simply announced.

"What?" Camilla half yelled.

"At least, I'm sure you don't wanna make us deaf?" Mrs Tyler teased.

"I'll tell you later dear, at least go freshen up," Larissa said and she nodded.

"I'll be in the room guys," Camilla announced and left.

"Your leg!?" Mrs Tyler said and Camilla halted abruptly with widened eyes.
