I feel my lenses slowly opening.
The room I stand in is dark and unfamiliar.
No furniture, no people, no sounds.
Completely empty and quiet.
Red lights beam down from all four corners of the ceilings, creating vibrant rays that overlap each other and meet at the center of the room.
The lights shine down on a one of a kind design. She is small in height but voluptous in figure. Her long, wavy, jet black hair reaches all the way down to her small midsection. Her radiant sheath is the colour of caramel and accesorized with small tattoos; most notably, a little black sustainer (the commercial type, you know, the ones people use as decoration or add to messages to show a liking of some sort) about the size of a dime underneath the curve of her left lens. I know that people don't have black lenses but her's are such a deep, dark brown that you would think otherwise. Those piercing dark lenses are outlined by long, full lashes matching the fullness of her lips; accentuated with a fiery red gloss.
That fiery shade of red seemed to match whatever was happening inside of me. A combination of heat, tingling and hazard. A feeling so strong and intense but also strangely concerning. So urgent that it cannot be contained. Eye contact is not enough. I reach my hand out for more.
Woman vanishes.
"No! Wait!"
The lights begin to flicker then suddenly, the once enchanting rays are no longer pointed towards the centre in unison but are now frantically shifting focus and direction.
I search for the woman amidst the chaos. I feel little air escape me. I want to yell but the lump in my throat makes it damn near impossible. I feel the liquid inside me grow hotter and hotter as if to alarm me that if I don't find this girl, it will bubble over and explode out of me.
The room goes pitch black. Bright red light gradually arises until filling the whole room.
There she is!
Her back pressed against the wall.
Her lenses glaring into mine as if daring me to come closer.
Ha! I ain't no bitch!
A smirk spreads across my face as I step forward to take her dare.
Ground slowly starts rotating.
"Wait.....wh- what the fuck?!"
Walls start rotating slightly faster than the ground in an opposite direction. Suddenly there is a giant wall clock on the ceiling and begins ticking in the background.
"Where the fuck did that come from?!"
I keep moving to get to the mystery girl. She becomes blurry as we keep spinning but I can still notice her minor smirk as she watches me struggle.
Does she know me or something? Why is she looking at me like that....and why don't I want her to stop.
Woman steps away from the wall. The walls and floor still spin in opposite directions. She effortlessly walks in a straight line towards Moon.
Wait a minute...how is she doing that.
Should I even ask?
No, I should ask her who she is first.
What's her name?
Woman steps face to face with Moon. She places her grabbers on the sides of Moon's face. The walls keep spinning but the floor comes to a gentle stop.
I can't control my grin. My panic disappears as I stare into her face. I don't think she is a stranger. She doesn't feel like one. I feel like I know how she is, but not necessarily who she is.
Daring. Pleasant.
I know it.
I know it just like how I know a memory.
What is it about her that makes me feel.... good.
I feel like how I did when I cared about things. There is something about this person that I care about. It's almost like her just standing before me has sent a wave of fulfillment through me, filling the parts of me that seemed to be empty and fixing the parts that seemed to be glitching.
How is she doing that?
Her kind grin remains but the way she looks at me seems a little disappointed.
"Moon, do you know who I am?"
She finally says to me.
"I think I might. Remind me, you have to remind me."
She takes a deep breath in and out.
"It's me-"
*Vision fades to red*
*Ding Ding* YOU'RE BREAK HAS ENDED *Ding Ding* YOU'RE BREAK HAS ENDED
I still see red behind my closed lenses. I can feel myself laying down. I hear the binaural instrumental I was playing in my ship behind the annoying automated voice prompting me from PA system. That prompt only goes off at work.
I know I'm not in that dark room with that beautiful girl anymore.
Where did she go?
How was all that stuff happening?
How did I get there and how did I leave?
*Ding Ding* YOU'RE BREAK HAS ENDED *Ding Ding* YOU'RE BREAK HAS ENDED.
I slowly open my eyes. I look around at my surroundings and force myself to get up.
I feel as if my sustainer has sunken to my walk pads. Why couldn't I have gotten her name? Then I could figure out how we knew each other.
I forcibly march out of my ship to shut up the automated voice.
"Understood!" I shout into the speaker.
It instantly goes mute.
