His demigods were cursed to suffer endless torments with their human flesh rotting as well apart from their dark souls and had their remains buried along with him after a bloody fight to overpower the creatures from the realm of hades having human bodies to dwell in the world, between the mutineers and the demigods except for one who got escaped from their clutches. As retribution against the rebels against his throne and in accordance with a possible belief that the demigod must have initiated the Mongolian attack on the early dwellers of Tashkent, the rebels were defeated by the nomadic Mongolian tribes at a western mountain pass leading straight to the walls of the city and the city inevitably fell into the hands of the plunderers who pillaged the whole empire to ruins largely because of the fact that Hemelion had paid less attention to majority of the skilled warriors who were deserting the army due to his never ending warfare with other tribes that had weakened the fighting zeal of the warriors at the frontier and were weak solely because of the frequent fighting with other tribes. The unpredictable attack of the Mongolian nomads led to the final fall of the empire and the few lucky survivors of the battle left their ancestry lands to foreign tribes to continue some few practices of their once glorious empire.
Sadly, information of the whereabouts of the sacred orb remains unknown regardless of the successful efforts of the team in charge of the excavation project did strive in recovering five large coffins made of thick brass and engraved marble stones in five tombs with that of the priestess from the ruins in the year I956 and a lot human bones were found in deep isolated areas inside the caverns. The team of researchers did much to discover a lot of old statues including other things but the sacred orb was never found where it was orally described to be, even the corpse that was presumed to be the chief priestess later turned out to be someone else who might have taken her place some years before the Mongols attacked the city after the priestess died in her chambers that wasn't located by the team led by Prof. Williamson as a result of an enforced official order from the Russian government to stop the activities of project they saw as a ploy of the Americans to explore their mineral resources rather than excavate the ruins despite provision of evidence to back up their claim to be digging up the historical ruins for the tomb of the undead tyrant.
Emma yawned as she arrived at the conclusion of the article and left the footnotes which added no importance to what she had read so far but she saw a sketched photograph of some drawing depicting how the orb may have looked like on the next page together with gettty images of the pendant she found though it was a described as an amulet possibly used as a charm by the evil King as well as few pieces of symbolic artifacts recovered from the site. Then she got up from her taking her handbag with her alongside the book after closing it and took a look on her left and right. She saw no one and stepped into the aisle, headed to the left corner of the hall in search for that computer. Dropping the hefty book beside the keyboard, Emma switched on the computer as soon as she was done keeping her handbag on her laps and searched the internet for more details regarding the incomplete project that was closed down as mentioned by the author in the article. She recalled her father having some unknown files burnt to ashes in their basement a long time ago in their new house around the same neighborhood she lived in to before his sickness got severe, a few weeks after they left the Garzaville mansion.
Luckily, she came across some relevant articles and new letters entailing vital information about the reason why the project was shutdown and was still very much documented online though the news article concerning the involvement of the Russians had been published to the public by a Russian reporter, an old journalist who worked for a newspaper firm labeled the Daily Pilot. She scrolled down on the desktop screen, skipping past irrelevant part unrelated to the information she needs and stumbled on an old reported story following a publication newspaper that was publicized 1957, the following year after the project was officially called off.
".... Russian government shutdowns project works of researchers exploring the mountains of Tashkent under suspected private funding from the United States of America",
She said to herself, mumbling out the what was displayed as the headlines of the newspaper by the computer screen and scrolled further down only to find another similar cover story amidst other irrelevant news which wasn't the main headlines of the newspaper.
"Politicians from Russia close down mountain research in Tashkent before completion over alleged exploration of mineral resources under the pretext of excavating an ancient tomb",
She whispered silently as she read some of the reported articles in the computer screen in spite of the bright LCD backlight radiating into her eyes more closely than ever and scrolled downwards for a third time only to some captured facial photographs of her dad alongside other notable researchers including face of prof. Livingstone Bagwell, the author of the book she read some minutes ago, who were in investigated to be involved in the project declared to be unofficial by the authorities including a Russian congressman whose photograph of him standing behind a pulpit was larger than faces of the researchers fixed below it before the next paragraph of the story written in four columns.
Emma quickly downloaded the entire story in pdf format and quickly sent it to her electronic mail box for her to in order to be able to understand more of what happened in Russia before her father's project could arrive at its conclusions and finish its objectives.
Then she powered off the computer before getting ready to leave and took the hefty book from the desk in her arms after placing her putting the leather strings of her shoulder handbag over her shoulder. She quickly headed towards the librarian only to find the old woman sitting behind her desk, still focused on her incessant typing that seems not to end ever since she came in to the library and waited in front of the desk for some minutes, in order for her to be noticed by the old lady but it was only after she spoke out that the old lady fully noticed her presence.
"Uh...Mrs. Tina",
She said feeling a bit frustrated standing there without being attended to like the first time when she came to the library.
"Oh!... Sorry dear, I really didn't quite see you there",
"It's okay. I understand you have a lot of things on your hands right now but I need to leave",
"Dear, you sound like you have gotten what you are looking for, haven't you?",
"With a bit of luck, yes, I did and that's why I came to meet you concerning this book",
"That?",
The librarian queried and adjusted her spectacles to clearly read the name the book in the arms of Emma.
"Yes, ma'am. I need to burrow it for some time",
"I can't let you do that. There's a strict order not to let anyone take a single book home",
"But madam....",
"Not this time, miss. I have been reprimanded several times because of people not returning the books on time and even if they do, some of the books turned out to be torn or impaired once they bring it back to me",
"But I saw....",
"Those two guys you saw leaving earlier were college students working on some damn serious assignment to carry out a project in their institution, that's why I let them take those books under the condition of returning them this weekend",
"For my sake, please permit me to leave with it. I'll surely bring it back in one piece, I promise",
Emma cajoled with a childish smile across her lips to make effective her fervent persuasion.
Mrs. Tina took a brief moment to think about her request for a some time and replied after she was done pondering on it.
"Fine, I'll let you take the book unless—",
"Unless what?",
Emma asked evermore anxious of what the librarian might say which got her heart racing inside of her.
"You'll have to put down your address as well as contact landline and you must bring back on Saturday unfailingly",
"And if I fail, what then?",
"Then you'll be arrested for stealing public property and you won't ever be able to set foot on this library again in your lifetime",
Mrs. Tina explained and brought out a large file containing a compiled records of home addresses including the phone number of people that had succeeded in burrowing the licensed books present in the library, in the past.
Emma took the large record and peered deeply at the numerous rows and columns already occupied with the records of people taking books from the library center for the past years including the name of the book they took.
"The conditions sure is severe, don't you think?",
"These are my terms, young lady. Don't force me to change my mind about letting you off with that big book",
"Alright, I accept. Do you mind giving me a pen?",
"Here you go. Hurry up and write your details there including the book's title and the license number before you can leave",
Mrs. Tina answered handing a black ball pen over to her.
Emma scribbled her name and the details provided without delay. Then she gave the pen back to its owner and thanked the old lady for her help with it before leaving the library center. The sunshine outside had increased tremendously, radiating with intense heat on the busy streets around the vicinity which compelled Iher to fetch a cab instead trekking to the bus stop nearby as soon as she went outside the center
