Ch 24 The Domain Part 2

"Yes," Harry nodded. There were two wizards who were known around the world as the greatest Sorcerers of this century: One revered and the other feared.

"In addition to them, there are two other sorcerers I know of in Asia: one in India and another in China. Both are ancient and possess remarkable power. Furthermore, there is a headmaster in Uganda, Africa, and another in the USA. These are the only ones that I know of and have seen first-hand, but there are others who I've only heard rumours about. One is a wandering monk and the other an Egyptian Warlock but since I've never met them, I can't say for sure if they exist,"

"What is the difference between Level 4 and 5, sir," Harry asked quizzically.

"Good question," Dumbledore nodded, "A Master is highly skilled in the specific field of magic they have dedicated themselves to. However, a Supreme Sorcerer possesses the ability to effortlessly wield any form of magic, regardless of the discipline. They don't rely on structured spells, incantations, or even conscious thought to perform magic. In fact, they can even cast basic spells without a wand, using only a wave of their hand. Their connection to magic is so profound that by desiring it, the magic itself responds and carries out their intentions,"

Dumbledore continued, "Among other things, the most unique thing about them is that after achieving this level they are able to create a kind of Domain—an encompassing field of their magic that surrounds them at all times. This field not only protects them but also prevents other Wizards from effectively utilizing spells within it unless they surpass a certain threshold—" Dumbledore paused mid-sentence, observing Harry's confused expression he said, "I think it's better if I just show you,"

"Take out your wand, Harry," Dumbledore instructed, as took out his hands from behind him, and Harry immediately complied as he flicked his wrist with familiarity to catch his phoenix core wand and noticed that the old Headmaster's wand, which was a lot more intricate than his, was already in his hand. He nodded at Harry and said, "Now, try to attack me with any spell you desire,"

Harry hesitated for a few moments but when he saw that Dumbledore was serious he nodded and went into a duelling stance immediately. He knew that there was hardly a chance that he would be able to hurt the old man before him so he raised his wand and confidently shouted, "Expelliarmus!"

Dumbledore was a bit disappointed with his spell choice but disappointment quickly turned to surprise when a blue light emerged instead of the expected red. Rather than raising his wand or evading the spell, Dumbledore allowed it to approach him. However, just a few feet away, the spell disintegrated as if the magic holding it together was breaking down, ultimately disappearing before reaching Dumbledore.

Harry looked at the scene before him with a dumbfounded expression, he knew that there was a wide chasm between the Headmaster and himself but to see that the man didn't even need to cast any magic or even raise his wand to defend himself was too much.

"That wasn't the Disarming charm, was it?" Dumbledore asked curiously.

"Er... No," Harry shook his head as tried to gather himself and answered, "It was a trick I learned from Sirius to trick my opponents to underestimate me..." he trailed off.

"It is good and would be helpful in a lot of situations—"

"I am sorry," Harry suddenly interrupted, "But H-How? Why did that spell not work?" he asked urgently.

"Patience, Harry. I was about to explain to you anyway," Dumbledore said serenely, before waving his hand, "The domain I mentioned earlier is a constant field of my magic that envelops me at all times. Whether I'm eating, reading, or even taking a nap, this field exists. Within this domain, it not becomes challenging for someone else's magic to form a proper spell but it also makes it easier for me to cast any spell I want with a single thought,"

"Then wouldn't that just make anyone with a domain invincible?" Harry said, having difficulty grasping the possibility.

"Oh nothing of the sort," Dumbledore smile reassuringly, "No one is truly invincible. As long as one possesses sufficient power and skill, they can easily overcome the restrictions of a domain."

"Then What about the Unforgivable," Harry asked after digesting the new information, "Will the Killing Curse and the others also not work in the domain,"

"That is a good question," Dumbledore said with a raised eyebrow and after looking at Harry curiously for a while answered, "Why don't you cast that previous spell again, Harry,"

Harry complied and cast the spell without hesitation. This time before his spell could even enter the range of the so-called Domain, a small square tile materialized exactly in the spell path rendering it useless. Harry raised an eyebrow and decided to try again and again and again but no matter where or how many times he cast it a new tile appeared in its path instantly and the most frustrating thing was that since the beginning Dumbledore didn't even bother raising his wand.

When Harry ultimately stopped after a few minutes of constant casting, Dumbledore began explaining in a calm tone, "There's a reason no one ever tried to assassinate Voldemort, Harry and the few of those who did, didn't survive long enough. Even if he stood in the middle of Diagon Alley, hardly anyone among the common populace would be capable of harming him, no matter how hard they tried, assuming they mustered the courage to do so in the first place,"

"It would require the combined might of at least three Master-level wizards to even have the chance to hold back someone with a Domain, but even then, it would only be temporary and they would lose eventually since it would be strenuous for them to cast spells in their opponent's Domain," Dumbledore explained.

"How? H-How is someone even supposed to fight someone like that?" Harry asked overwhelmed in a desperate tone. For the first time in his life, he felt the massive cliff of a gap between him and Voldemort. He felt defeated and disheartened at the thought that Voldemort would be able to do every single thing that Dumbledore just showed him.

He would need to become a full-fledged master to even think of having a chance of standing against him. And he didn't think he had what it took to become a Master in any field any time soon, not even in his best subject DADA.

"Don't look so down, Harry," Dumbledore said calmly, "It takes even the most gifted of Wizards decades and decades of hard work to even be qualified to think of having a domain and even then they may never be able to do so. Even Voldemort was only able to achieve it in his fifties and he was one of the most gifted to pass through this institute—So I don't think you need to feel bad about feeling a bit intimidated,"

Harry took a deep breath and nodded to Dumbledore after a few minutes, he decided that he wouldn't think about it at the moment and just tackle the problem when it arrived.

"Good," Dumbledore nodded happily at Harry's getting over it so quickly and said, "Now, you may have a chance to skip some of those levels I just told to you if you're able to learn what I am about to teach you,"

"What is it?" Harry asked excitedly.

A mischievous twinkle appeared in Dumbledore's eyes as he responded, "Why, the domain, of course."
