The merman's turn

"She was just....." Lyre frowned. He doesn't understand why the girl thought to speak to him. All he knew was she wanted to speak to him.

"Don't speak to anyone when I'm not around. Do you understand?" Rain clenched his teeth as he dragged Lyre to the cashing point.

"I didn't say a word." Lyre frowned at Rain's back.

Rain was a bit taller than him, and that made it impossible to see his face.

"But you sat next to her!" Rain clenched his teeth, to prevent a shout from escaping his mouth.

"I wasn't—"

"But you allowed her to sit next to you."

Lyre frowned.

He just couldn't understand why Rain was still talking about something that was in the past now. It's not as if the girl were still sitting next to him.

Rain let go of his hand when they reached the cash point. He dropped the basket on the table and started bringing out the things he bought.

Out went most of the things he got for Lyre, who was about to start schooling with them.
