No Room To Talk

"It's a dangerous time to travel but not as dangerous as trying to face the floodplains when spring has truly settled in," Callum warned Celia with a low tone.

Celia stared up at the man who had captured her heart and she didn't have a response to his words.

Never before had she felt so cared for by another person. It felt like a pathetic realization after being married to someone else for nearly twenty years.

Robert was never bad to her but he was indifferent a lot of the time. Perhaps that was the reality of being a peasant who worked in the local potato fields all the time. He put all of his energy into scraping up money enough to survive so he didn't have anything left in him when he returned to his family.

Even when Callum was exhausted, he still came to her first and made sure everything was alright before he could take care of himself. It was telling when he acted that way even before they ever approached a romantic relationship.
