Sacrifice

Mother was telling me her family history.

Well, my mom did mentioned once that, she had a baby cousin sister whom she loved the most because she gave her something which my mom could never have without her help.

Maybe she was talking about her and the magic she taught her !

" Why do you regret it mother ? "

I asked, wanting her to continue the story.

" Because if, we had searched for that paper, I would never have cast the spell. The page mentioned about turning a mortal into an immortal but the missing page mentioned about turning them into monsters !

If, only I had known my one spell can trun my innocent kids into a monster, I would never have done that ! "

Mother said crying.

Kevin wiped her tears and hugged her. She hugged him back. She cried for some time and then resumed.

" After I tuned them into immortals, their strength increased, they gained speed and gained thirst. Insatiable thirst ! I gave them various magical drinks to sate it but it failed every single time.

The thirst made them insane. They were loosing their patience. They were becoming aggressive without any reason; I thought. I didn't know it's their thirst making them go insane.

But they weren't thirty for water; they were thirsty for blood ! And we discovered it one day when, Ethan and I were returning home from the forest and a tiger attacked us.

I was gonna make him leave our path unharmed but Ethan attacked him and before I could understand what happened, he stood up with blood stained mouth. Satisfied !

I asked him how did he killed the huge tiger and he just shrugged at me. Then I noticed his fangs were razor sharp. Though I knew their teeth weren't normal anymore but I didn't expected them to be this bad.

And after drinking his blood he became my innocent and sweet Ethan again ! I was surprised and way to happy to know that animal blood sated his thirst and now he is just like before. And in that happiness, I forgot to double check the theory and took Kevin in the forest to make him drink animal blood.

But unfortunately, a group of hunters were hunting for the wild bore that day and while hunting it, one of them injured himself. I couldn't smell but Kevin and Ethan ran towards the direction and before I reached there, the man was laying on the ground. Lifeless. Bloodless. And Kevin and Ethan were enjoying the taste as if, they were having some dessert !

Before I could say anything they ran behind the hunters voices and smell and when I reached there, they had already killed 15 men !

They were looking super satisfied and were acting normally, just like they used to before the thirst made them go insane !

But that wasn't the end ! Before I could process that my innocent kids have killed 15 men for their blood, Kevin started screaming in pain. He was very uncomfortable in his clothes and sweating bad and so he tore his clothes with... Claws !

He turned into a wolf infront my eyes and I couldn't stand watching my innocent kids turning into human killers and turning into a wolf ! I kneeled and Ethan came to my rescue but Kevin had something different in mind. He attacked Ethan with the intention of killing !

I couldn't think of anything and pulled them apart with my magic and Kevin ran away. Ethan was bleeding bad and his blood won't stop flowing. My heart sank to see all this happening infront of my eyes.

My kids turned into human killers, my elder son turned into a wolf, he attacked his younger brother whom he loved more than his life ! I wanted to amend my mistake but there is no amendment for magic and more specifically for such a strong and heavy spell.

Kevin returned home after a few days and Ethan was about to die ! I slapped Kevin for hurting his own brother till he is about to die. But according to him he had no idea how and when did all that happened.

He was feeling guilty for hurting his own brother to this level and he started crying. My father had taught me that, no one should go unpunished. If someone hit you, hit him back !

And that's when I casted the spell on Kevin. He hurted his brother so, he will cure him ! I casted the spell and made Ethan drink his blood and he recovered like magic ! "

Mother said.

Yes, I do remember Kevin's wolf bit Ethan and when he drank from Kevin he heald like magic. So, mother's spell is the reason for why wolf bite can only be cured by Kevin's blood !

" I thought they were satisfied by killing 15 men and won't act thirsty ever again. But that wasn't the case. They started becoming thirsty within a week !

Earlier when they hadn't discovered the solution for their thirst, they were manageable but after the killing, they were uncontrollable to another level.

I allowed them to drink from humans if only, they won't kill them ! I told them to have a little from each person and not kill the. But then, there was the problem that, the man would tell everyone about what happened with them and I couldn't let that happen.

And so, I gave them the power of compelling each and every person on the earth to do what they wish for. And told them to drink and make them forget they ever met.

That solved one problem but created another one ! The people from Kevin and Ethan drank started to become thirsty and insane just like they did in the beginning.

Slowly all of them understood what sates their thirst and our entire town was humanless within a fortnight ! "

Mother said shivering at the memory.

" That's why, my coven decided to put end to it. They killed all the vampires in the town but couldn't kill Kevin and Ethan. They asked me to tell them how to kill them but I didn't !

I had done so much and been through so much for my kids so, how could I have let them kill my kids ? I didn't tell them and so, they started to torcher me.

Bella couldn't see her beloved cousin going through all this so, she came up with a plan. She told the coven that, she will put my activities to an end by killing me and putting me in coffin which will be sealed with all of the witche's magic.

She did what she said; except for two things. She didn't killed me and didn't let any other witch's magic touch the coffin ! "

Mother said smiling.

But all this doesn't sums up everything yet.

" Your mother had committed a non-forgivable sin my child ! To get back her sister she had to kill all the witches who knew about me ! It took her a couple of thousand years to kill all of them. Because by the time she put me in the coffin, other witches came to know about my existence !

She finally killed them all but it costed her, her peace, her pride, her true self cursed her thousand times for doing it to the innocent victims to save a monster creator like me ! "

Mother started crying out loud. Even I couldn't stop my tears and so couldn't Kevin. Ethan was crying inside holding me tight.

" A witch can't die with the magic still inside her, Bella knew that. And endured it for centuries. She was so disturbed she didn't talked to anyone and was all alone.

Her marriage was a failure. Her husband had a mistress and for her he left Bella and she became more depressed.

Then, after centuries, she met your father and he loved her so much. He helped her out of the depression had you.

She loved you more than her life. She was just waiting for you to come to age where you could take care of yourself and she could die in peace ! "

Mother said crying. Her words made me remind my time with my mom and yes, she did loved me more than anything in this world. I couldn't stop my tears.
