Plan

Everything had been planned out to be in the favour of Brick so long as he did not become too conceited once everything was working out.

He came alone and made it to the main house of the Reed family then displayed his physical combat abilities to those that could see it or would come across the aftermath later.

Those inside would be safer and would be thankful, due to him not using the guns in his possession and not having them out, it was easier for him to tell his tale to Shane.

Brick had shown that he was fighting up close with the zombies and did not fire a single gun shot, it was difficult to identify if there was actually a gun in his possession and most would not bother checking his bag for one unless he was to spend some time alone with Shane in the same room without the protection of his security.

He had only taken a small amount to arm himself and a couple others so even if he was discovered, he would not be considered as that much of a threat to Shane while Shawn was the bigger threat and was showing signs of disloyalty.

Brick had made his was to Shane right away and took on the risk involved to aid them so he was more trustworthy than Shawn who had done nothing for Shane and was too busy gathering power where he was safer.

Brick had then went on to discuss his next plan which would help in clearing the remaining zombies so he had gained even more trust and approval of Shane and those around him.

Big and intimidating men and women who were much older were roughly patting him on the back and shoulder. "Not a bad idea kid."

"You got talent."

Shane went to his office and took out some keys then made his way back to the main hall. "Here. The car keys and the main security post keys. You will need these."

Brick took them and revealed a smile. "Thanks! All everyone needs to do is to follow the plan and get to safety. Remain there until it is completely safe to come out again. So long as you cooperate with eachother then we should not have any casualties."

Once he had reached garage was opened which revealed many types of different cars, Brick pressed the unlocking button which had alerted him to the car he was taking.

It was nothing too fancy but was still worth more than a lot of what he owned while it would serve its purpose.

A multi purpose vehicle with enough room to carry around seven people or a lot of other things was in front of him and it looked tough enough to endure any rough conditions that could be faced outside.

So long as Brick did not go crazy with it then it would serve its purpose well.

While Brick was admiring it and seeing how the car was very similar to those in his own world, Shane was looking over and frowned. 'Why did he stop? Is he really that impressed with that thing? If that is the case then he should be easily impressed, this will make it easier to control him.'

Shane had many more expensive cars and could afford sending Brick off with one of them even if there was a risk of it not being brought back.

The worth of the car did not mean much to him when his daughter could be saved.

Even though he was relieved that she was safe and wanted her to return to his side, Shane was still considering her usefulness and what he was willing to risk or give up in order to get her back.

When he saw that Brick could be so easily impressed and swayed by one of his cars, Shane saw weakness in Brick which could be exploited.

If Brick was so easily impressed with a car that Shane was willing to throw away then it would be easy for Shane to use other things that Brick lacked to buy his loyalty.

Brick was just a poor orphan who was living off his families charity and would be easy to keep loyal to him due to their difference in status and power.

If Brick had known his thoughts then he would then he would only laugh.

Shane was correct about how he could gain a foothold in the new world but that would only get him so far.

The changes brought to the world were not so simple and Brick did not wished to be used up and tossed aside just like Lucy for whatever reason it may be.

Even if his biggest desire could be satisfied by Shane, Brick would never sell his soul to such a person who could betray him at any moment.

Brick turned around and asked. "So who will be joining me as you have said? If we act right away then we can get several things done at once."

Shane turned to a man who had several knife scars on his arms as they wore a sleeveless shirt then said. "Homer, you will join the kid. Although he is younger than you, he still has more experience outside than you. Do not let your pride mess with the plan."

Homer looked very intimidating as he stood there with his muscular and scarred arms crossed. "Yes boss."

Shane then whispered in a low voice so that only Homer could hear then Homer nodded in response. "Mm.. I will keep in touch."

Not only was Homer there to assist and drive for Brick but it looked like Brick would be monitored by him too.

It made him a little uncomfortable to be monitored but it did not matter a great deal, Brick was well aware of what would follow in the future and that his present achievements were not that great in the long run.

It would not be a surprise if everyone within the Reed residence that he had gained would suddenly be taken away by Shane due to them originally working for him and living on his land.

Even if Brick could gain one or two useful allies from his efforts then it would be a small step in the right direction.

There was still a lot to do and it was only a little more difficult with someone around who was watching his every move.

Within the Reed residence, everything really belonged to someone else and barely anything was his own.

He did not know what kind of person he wanted to be whether it was a typical ruler in troubled times, a wandering loner powerhouse, a hunting party leader or simply playing a low key role in the world but he needed power, resources and people to do so.

Being bound to Tanya would lower his options too so Brick had to carefully think over how he would capitalise on the apocalypse and not be used by others and how he would handle his current situation.

Many characters, storylines and other pieces of hidden information that would be discovered in the future by others or the female lead's group were available to him and he already had some things written down after researching before the apocalypse came.

Those pieces of information would be what would make him have even greater potential than Lucy so long as he did not mess things up along the way.

Once everyone had got to safety and the car had been driven up to the drive way while it was safe to drive away, everyone else got themselves prepared for what came next. "Begin!"

Those that had checked over the empty rooms had opened any doors on the lower floors connected to them then pushed them wide open before running back into the main hall.

Once they reached up the top of the stairs, they began their rounds of opening any occupied rooms before entering one of the vacant rooms and locking themselves inside.

The zombies that were inside had been alerted to the doors opening and had given chase to each person but ran into many obstructions in their path.

They were slowed down and those that ran had coordinated with the others so they would arrive together safely without being trapped.

The same had happened on the upper floor so when everyone was in a safe position, they had release those that were upstairs before locking themselves away safely.

Loud music was playing from the driveway once Brick got a text saying they had been successful.

A grin was on his face as he turned the volume up higher, Brick turned to Homer. "Do not drive too fast once they get closer."

Zombies began appearing in the main hall and wandered out of the door which followed with them falling down again as they reached the steps then they crawled back up as their numbers grew.

The music only helped to excite and draw them towards the car which had begun to move once they had gotten closer.

It was strange for a man like Homer who was very professional in his job to see the person beside him being so relaxed and was bobbing his head to the music.

The tanned youth in his teens who had black hair and grey eyes was not an ugly person but he was not remarkably handsome either.

Brick had a slightly blunt and thuggish or unruly look to him so if someone judged him on appearances, it would be expected that he would be seen as someone that was a troublemaker or was quick to jump into fights with others over the smallest things.

Instead of the impression that Homer had from his first look towards the thuggish looking young man, he was more impressed with how calm and chilled Brick was as he was enjoying the music without a care of the dangers behind him.

That kind of calmness in such a situation only came from having faced the danger first hand and overcoming it, he had seen many other colleagues with the same aura or attitude and most of them had faced life and death experiences many times.

It was surprising to see that on someone who was just a trainee.

On the other hand, Brick was just sampling and enjoying the music of another world which was quite fresh to him. 'Ah.. it will be difficult to enjoy such things later unless we go back to the basic methods. The music is not half bad though.'

He continued to listen to it as it played while he occasionally looked over to check the distance between the zombies and the car as it drove out. 'Come on everybody, do the zombie conga~.'

The plan was working and would help to lure away the zombies from inside to the next destination where the next phase of the plan would begin.
