Fire Practice

Once Brick had given a basic explanation of what he needed, Tanya was silent for some time and looked at him like he was asking for something ridiculous. "Really?"

Brick showed a smile and added. "Just try it out.. this should be some form of practice for you."

Tanya looked a little annoyed but agreed. "Fine then but our discussion has not ended yet."

Brick nodded. "Of course. One moment and I will grab a few things. Keep this between us for now since this method should not be passed out to others carelessly."

He went over to his backpack and took out a storage container and some other tools that he had with him that he needed while searching through the room for other things that he may have needed.

He came back back everything he needed and laid them all out in front of Tanya and said. "Alright let's begin!"

In front of them was a small kit that had a mould, plastic wrappers and sticks along with some other packets of different ingredients.

If there was one skill that had had gained before he had arrived in his body then it was making sweets.

It was a lot of fun for him to be able to make his own sweets and snacks to satisfy his need for sugar to satisfy his sweet tooth and to simply follow along with some videos of people he was subscribed to online.

It was a way to use some of his time on something else besides reading novels and it saved him a little money from having to always visit the nearby stores to purchase overpriced sweets and deserts.

The real Brick had often cooked for himself since he had to look after himself so he had a little experience left over for preparing different things too.

Different sized measuring tools and containers were slowly filled up until it was enough which had followed with others being measured.

Once they had been measured properly to get the correct amount needed, Brick started to add one thing after another before starting to mix them together.

One cup of sugar was added first followed by a quarter of a cup of corn syrup and another quarter of water.

The bottle that had been used was an already unsealed one that was sitting aside from Brick that had been measured and added rather than adding water from a cleaner or sealed water bottle.

They were all placed in a heatable pan together which Brick held up with a thermometer sitting inside of it to let him monitor the heat levels, there was a pair of protective gloves on his hands to keep him from getting burnt by the handle if it heated up too much. "Alright. Gogogo. Heat it up."

Tanya rolled her eyes and put her palm underneath the pan which followed with a small flame being summoned above her palm. "Here we go."

Brick nodded as he watched the thermometer. "Alright. Just focus on controlling your flame and keeping the fire going as you raise the heat. If I call out then try to lower it and adjust it to what is required."

A look of concentration had appeared in the eyes of Tanya as she focussed her efforts towards her flame which started to slowly become hotter.

The thermometer had showed that the temperature of the pan was rising and the next stages were starting to proceed.

"Alright.. lower the output a little."

"Yes.. keep it stable just like that."

"You dropped it again. Higher."

"Lower, lower."

"Perfect."

Brick gave a little guidance and told Tanya to replenish her energy with the water he had given her so she was able to maintain using her fire power for a long time without any breaks.

It was heated on a medium heat and was kept like that until the sugar had started to dissolve then Brick used his free hand to brush down the sides inside the pan with a pastry brush to prevent any crystals from forming.

It continued to boil like that until the mixture inside of the pan had been shown to reach 300F or 159C then Brick had let Tanya take a break. "Alright. You can stop now."

The pan no longer was heated up by her flame as it extinguished completely and Tanya was allowed to rest up. "Hah.. this is so difficult to control."

Brick agreed but added. "True but practicing like this even if it is for the smallest of things will help increase your range of control. Just being able to use your ability for a little longer or being able to do just that little bit more firepower will help you when you may need it."

Tanya nodded and quietly watched on as Brick started to add some extracts and food colourings into the mixture.

It was stirred up thoroughly and started to look very bright and colourful and quickly moved onto pouring the mixtures into the moulds where the sticks had been slotted into each part.

They were then left out to cool completely and once they had hardened, Brick started to take out one at a time and placed them in a plastic wrapper before sealing them inside.

He continued to do so until all of the moulds had been emptied and a container was full of bright green round lollies on a stick with some see through plastic wrappers around it. "Not bad. Not bad. Now to test this."

He had a theory that had not been confirmed by others since they never really had the materials or ingredients to even try it.

Even if they had thought of such a method, it was not really something that most could do without the right equipment or powers available to them.

Most cooking tools were rendered useless unless they still ran on fuels or gases that were still not cut off but there were other options like using a camping cooking stove.

Most fire users rarely ever made use of their own powers for anything besides combat purposes but it had a lot of potential for many other areas and one of them was for cooking or making certain things.

A lolly was placed in the mouth of Brick and he let it rest there as the taste spread and he had started to feel the rush of sugar but also something else.

There was small traces left behind inside of the lolly that had been made from the crystal nucleus water that was a much smaller amount than what was inside of a bottle and had been spread out among several lollies.

It was a little wasteful to have boiled it along with everything and some of the contents may have been lost during the process but the end result had been more than enough to make use of. "These are much better to make use of. Now we just need a name and a certain colour code for them."

Tanya looked towards him and asked. "Why? They are just ordinary lollies right? No wait.. you used that water instead of normal water didn't you?"

Brick showed a smug smile as he enjoyed the tasted the lolly in his mouth. "Of course I used 'that' water. I wanted to see if it was possible to use it in this way. Rather than carrying lots of bottles around… this could be another decent option and would be less bothersome.

Just imagine having to constantly worry about which bottle has which water in it and how much should be consumed of each one everyday? This is much better since you do not have to carry around two sets for different purposes all the time.

The lollies can be eaten at different times of the day to manage the limits that we should be able to consume and they can be passed along with less people finding anything weird about them. How about naming these ones CNL for short and we can figure out the rest later.."

Once he was done rambling, he looked over expectantly towards Tanya. "Ready to do some more while we are here? We still got some time to practice and to stock up on some more of these. Want one?"

Tanya rolled her eyes and reached out her hand. "Fine. Give it here."
