Bloodline

Brick was unaware of the potential danger coming towards the Reed Residence but he was also unaware of something else that was very important.

His knowledge that had been passed on to others was being used in all kinds of ways to help people survive.

He was already having a large effect on the original story helping to nurture new survivors that probably died during the first stages of the novel.

It was both good and bad that he had done so since it meant that it could be used to save many lives but it depended on the lives that were being saved.

Any survivors that read and learned could become a potential ally or a potential enemy.

Anyone could use his knowledge for nefarious purposes and the group that were making their way towards the Reed Residence had some among them that were sharing their information and making use of it as a group.

Many among them were able to survive to form such a group but while it was good for everyone that was treated well among them, it did make them more dangerous to those they crossed paths with.

Just like how many innocent lives were saved, there were places where innocents would suffer a worse fate at the hands of those he had aided by spreading such knowledge.

The apocalypse was a time where those with the most amount of luck, adaptability, survival instincts and power were usually the ones to last longer.

It was a time where it was all about the survival of the fittest where humans had to learn to overcome the threats of the zombies but also those of their own kind too.

What was worse was that there were all kinds of variants of evolved humans, zombies, zombie animals, mutated animals and many more.

Unlike most novels where there was a large increase is mutated animals that bred like crazy and wreaked havoc everywhere, there were some differences involved in the novel world he was in.

An example was that a lot of smaller life forms were much too small and incompatible with the virus so they died instantly while others like rats that had a major number problem could no longer breed if they became zombies.

Even birds, bats and other animals were completely incompatible with the virus so they neither became zombies or mutated and had instead died.

It was especially rare for animals to survive the first couple of days when exposed to the rain water and those that were able to survive became mutated animals.

One of the reasons why Brick had brought the puppies back home during the first day was to try his luck but he knew that the odds of success were very low.

The puppies ended up becoming his first test towards killing a living creature that had become infected.

If luck was on his side then he would put in some work to raise and train the one that mutated since it would be useful in the future but in the present, it was way too much of a burden to raise.

That was how the apocalypse made the world, in order to survive, many chose to abandon the long term possibilities for the sake of the short term benefits and survival.

What could seem like something worthwhile investing in could end up putting someone through many hardships and put their lives in danger.

Investing some food and drink in someone in the hopes of them paying it back later was something few could consider since they were too busy thinking about how long their supplies would last before they began to starve themselves.

The world had become twisted so much that the previous world was just a distant memory to many who were too busy surviving to be able to look back to that time unless they wished to escape reality to a time when life was better.

Meanwhile in a very distant location very far away, there was an old man sitting at a very expensive looking table with many people being seated around it.

There was a powerful aura coming from the old man that seemed almost inhuman.

If Brick had been able to see him then it was very likely he would be able to recognise that character from the novel.

The old man coldly looked across the room towards his family members who were from the main bloodline and the branch families. "Have you detected it?"

The middle aged man sitting near him with an aura just as powerful as the old man began to speak. "I am afraid so.. there has been an anomaly. How could it be possible.. not one but two. How could such a thing happen at such a crucial stage?"

The old man looked over as a cold light flashed in his eyes. "Indeed… it seems that not one but two rarities of our family have been born in the same era. As much as this should be celebrated and cherished, this is not the time to do so.

None of the main or branch families have come back positive from the tests so this can only mean that there still exist two with our bloodline that have been left to wander around the world.

Depending on what their ability had manifested.. we may have to consider them as a threat if they know too much. The rare wish… how could two outsiders both gain such a rare chance."

The middle aged man nodded before coldly saying. "I will have some men enter the world to try to find their traces. How should I proceed if they are located?"

The old man sat silently for some time before speaking. "Make sure to not let the other families know of this blunder. It is an important time where the families must remain united so we cannot have anything that will cause a rift between us.

If you can locate them then I will give you permission to kill them. They pose a great threat since they have used the wish. Perhaps they may know too much about everything since the wish is usually quite unpredictable as it has been recorded in our records.

Send only those that can blend in well enough with the current state of the world. It would only make the other families suspicious if we act too high profile in the world. The plan was for us all to lie low at this time so we need to be careful not to upset the others by doing this."

The old man kept talking for some time as they discussed some other matters relating to the other families before ending the meeting.
