“Your Highness,” Tristan interjected.
I walked over to where Leonardo was standing and stared down at him, towering over him.
“Let him speak, Tristan,” I seethed in anger.
Leonardo bowed his head as I waited for him to say what was on his mind. We stood in silence until he muttered in a tiny voice, “I misspoke, brother.”
“I thought so,” I responded. “You are all dismissed.”
Leaving the hall, I headed straight to my bedroom. I needed to take a shower immediately. I walked to the bathroom and shed all my clothes and stood under the icy cold water.
Leonardo was really pushing my buttons. The fact is that he was right, and I would never admit it. Shifter killings were not my concern, but the problem was my intended mate. The need to protect him and his pack weighed over me.
I had not rested since yesterday morning. I could feel how tired I was. I dressed and got into bed. Sleep engulfed me but the last thoughts in my mind were the cruel words from my intended mate.
