A Profound Loss

Amy stared up at the night sky and sighed, tears flowing down her face. She was supposed to be happy. The threat that had been looming over them for so long had finally dissipated. But she wasn't happy. Because the end of this enmity had taken something precious from them.

She felt AJ step onto the balcony and soon he had wrapped his arms around her waist. Leaning back, she closed her eyes and commented," The moon is so beautiful tonight."

"Hmm." AJ kissed her shoulder slowly and lingeringly before his lips made their way upwards, kissing the side of her neck and then her cheeks, stopping there. "The beautiful moon makes you cry?"

"You know what makes me cry."

"Don't think about it. We didn't know."

"But that's what makes me feel even more awful, AJ. How could I not know that I was pregnant! Heck, Emilia had even joked about it!"
