To Get A Rat Out Of Its Hole

DEVON

I stared directly into Jeremy's eyes, hoping he would see the sincerity in my words. I could feel the two pairs of eyes boring holes in my back, but I focused on the man in front of me.

I raised my hand and placed it firmly on Jeremy's shoulder.

"You know I won't offer the same if you miss this opportunity."

And that made him slowly nod his head. Dad was ready on his feet to get Mason, but I stopped him.

"Only I am going to take him back." I declared.

He opened his mouth to argue, but Mr Ortiz butted in.

"And Elena."

"Elena?" Dad and I asked in unison.

Mr Ortiz nodded his head before smirking my way.

"We need someone to keep your temper in check Devon. We don't want another breaking news about the cousins strangling each other to death, now do we?"

I opened my voice to object, but dad's words surprised me.

"That's right. Take her with you. Mason too seems like taking a liking toward his cousin-in-law." He muttered, avoiding to meet my eyes.
