Chapter 60: Bad Luck Strikes!

Chapter 60: Bad Luck Strikes!

Aakesh returned to the city hall to receive another quest since the administration didn't allow others to accept more than one quest at a time.

"Please show me quests of the same level as the Great Bear Hunt," Aakesh requested of the receptionist.

The receptionist was surprised at first since Aakesh returned very quickly after completing the previous quest. But soon, her eyes returned to calm, as she didn't want to delve into the secrets of others since it was detrimental to her job.

Not long after, three screens appeared in front of him, showing details of three quests.

{Quest: Eliminate Gang

Details; The Bloodfire gang is becoming brazen with their actions as they kidnapped a merchant's son and are asking for an enormous amount. Kill the gang members and rescue the child.

Mission Reward: 200 XP and Fifty silver coins per head.

Bonus Mission: Eliminate the entire gang

Reward: 1000 XP and five gold coins.}

{Quest: The Missing Necklace

Details: A wealthy merchant has had one of his most expensive possessions, a Necklace, stolen. Recover it from whoever stole the item.

Mission Reward: 250 XP and one gold coin.

Bonus Mission: Hand the thief to the city guard

Reward: 250 XP.}

{Quest: Hunt Mysterious Monster

Details: A mysterious monster had been rampaging in the sewers for the outer city, disturbing the lives of lower-class citizens. Hunt the monster.

Mission Reward: 500 XP.}

Aakesh read the details on the screen in front of him.

"Before accepting any of the three quests, keep in mind that the danger in these quests might exceed the danger in the Great Bear Hunt," The receptionist warned Aakesh before he accepted any of the three quests.

Aakesh nodded since he also saw it from the contents. Each quest had to do with the city guards, and since there were quests here, it meant that the city guards failed. As for why the city didn't send higher-level guards, they didn't care much about it.

Aakesh didn't immediately accept the quest but pondered over the content. Out of the three, the first was clearly the most rewarding, while the third was the least.

After pondering for some time, Aakesh decided to choose the first one. The second quest also had great rewards, but it was time-consuming.

"I accept Eliminate Gang," Aakesh told the receptionist and tapped on the screen.

Following the details of the Bloodfire gang in the introduction, Aakesh reached their base.

The base was in the outer city since the guards in the inner city were strong because nobles lived there.

The gang wouldn't keep the kidnapped child in its base, or the city guards would have already rescued it. Aakesh came here to use violence to solve the situation as quickly as he could.

If the city guards were strict, they would have already solved this case. The gangs acted in open without the fear of the administration. There was only one reason for it, the city guards were corrupt and took bribes.

A group of four people was playing cards outside the godown's gate.

Aakesh was standing at a tall building near the godown. He could see guns tied to the gang member's waist.

Aakesh didn't immediately act, but he took out the coin.

"Is the kid inside?" Aakesh asked and flicked the coin.

A disappointed expression appeared on Aakesh's face as the coin stood straight instead of showing any side. It meant divination was impossible.

NPCs also had classes, so it wouldn't be a big deal if any of the gang members had a class in the Diviner system.

***

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!

The group of four crashed to the ground simultaneously as a hole emerged in the area between their brows.

Aakesh used the skills Coin Multiplier and Coin Strike.

***

"Eh!" The receptionist suddenly exclaimed in shock as she read the file she got a moment ago.

The file was related to the quest "Eliminate Gang," which Aakesh just received.

The leader of the Bloodfire gang found an item that helped his level grow from level 15 to level 20.

***

The cost of using the skill Lucky Strike was the bad luck of half an hour.

Aakesh's bad luck struck him, as when he was on his way, the man who was supposed to hand over the file got into an accident, and someone else had to hand over the file about the quest to the receptionist.

If there had been no accident, the receptionist would have gotten the file earlier, and the mission would have been taken off the list for Aakesh. But now, Aakesh had accepted the quest, and the fighting had already begun.

After killing the people at the gate, Aakesh entered the godown, only to hear a burst of laughter and obscene conversations.

The sudden entry of Aakesh alerted the group, so they took out their guns and aimed at Aakesh.

But before they could shoot, several coins appeared in his hands, and he flicked them.

Tang! Boom!

One of the gang members dodged and shot, but Aakesh had already disappeared from the spot.

The gang member searched around him in fright, but the next moment, the world around him turned dark as a strike hit him at the back of his neck.

There were five people inside the godown, and only one succeeded in dodging, while the others were dead.

Aakesh ignored the dead gang member and focused on the unconscious one. The gang members varied from Level 8 to level 10, so only a single shot was enough for them.

Jatin regained consciousness after blacking out. He immediately struggled as he felt his body bound. He looked around in shock and found himself in the same godown, but currently, he was on a chair with his hands and legs tied.

Jatin wanted to scream, but a cloth was forced under his mouth to keep him from speaking.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

A few minutes later, Jatin heard the sound of footsteps approaching him. He looked up and found it to be the intruder.

The man looked casual in his steps and he had a gun in his hands, but the expression he made was weird.
