His choice

it was time for the Prince to choose his bride and he was still skeptical about it, as none of the Princesses seems to meet the standards he needed, all of them seems to be clinging to him because of the title they wanted from him, he has only meet nine of them, remaining the tenth daughter which he doesn't care to know about because he believes they were all the same, he wondered why his father didn't set this agreement using his sister, maybe his sister was the lucky one, she doesn't always get caught up in the middle of their dad's decision unlike him, he is going to be the next king and his dad expect him to follow his every footstep and being in every of his plans.

his father suddenly clapped his hands drawing everyone's attention towards him so they would listen to his speech, "mmm, mmm," he cleared his throat before proceeding with his speech.

"For three years now, Baneria and Endoria have been nothing but sworn enemies, who had each other neck on the tip of their swords, but here we are now, both kingdoms, dining and wining as if we have been friends for a long time, that why we need to straighten our bond by having two royal bloods from both Kingdoms to marry each other,"

King Alfred finally stood up with a bottle of wine In his hands, "you spoke well King Edward, this marriage will not only straighten a bond, but it will also heal the bonds we once have, cheers to the Kingdom of Baneria,"

"and cheers to the Kingdom of Endoria," King Edward reacted back as everyone began to cheer louder.

"it's time for my son to choose the Princess of his choice, any princess he picks to dance with him is certainly going to be his wife," King Edward announced, as every eye in the ballroom began to stare at Prince Eric.

"my beautiful Princesses, why not stand in line so the Prince would have a better view of you all," King Alfred address his daughter as they all lined up from the eldest to the youngest, with pride on their faces, each one of them was praying in their mind to be prince Eric chosen one.

"Where is your sister, the father asked Charles after noticing she wasn't around.

"she should be in the Terrace," he whispered to him, he knows that was the place his sister loves going to, whenever she wanted to be alone.

"go call her, tell her that her presence is needed now," he told Charles who rushed out of the ballroom to go find his sister.

...

I was sitting on a stone chair in the terrace looking at the deep dark sky with only the moon and a few stars shining, I wasn't interested in the party, going inside there would mean fighting with my sisters, which I don't want to be a part of, if only I have the power I would be a normal girl and be free from royalty, I also won't be with my sisters who are obsessed with high title men, my stepbrothers and I weren't that close with each other, we hardly ever communicate except when we have a question to ask, apart from that they were close with each other including with my brother, maybe is a girly thing to fight amongst themselves.

" Zara...," Charles came running towards me,

"there you are, dad said I should call you," he told me, I knew that it was time for the prince to choose his bride, I would have loved to stay back but I honestly can't disobey my father so I left with my brother,

I walk into the ballroom as everyone began to look at me, I noticed he too was starring deeply at me but I choose to ignore him, I looked at my father who directed me to join the line with my sisters using his eyes.

"haven't you seen any princess of your choice yet," King Alfred asked prince Eric who seems to be taking forever.

"you know it's certainly hard to pick a wife out of all these beautiful princesses standing here," King Edward said trying to cheer everyone up.

I can't help but feel like some cheap piece of material one has to purchase before it leaves the market, I hope this could end soon, I'm starting to get nervous at all the eyes staring at us.

...

she had curly golden brown hair, rapture blue eyes that seems to be looking everywhere, a slender eyebrow that looked down on her sweeping eyelashes a nice sculpted face, and a dainty nose, she seems to be waiting for all this to end so she could leave soon, but Prince Eric had other thoughts in his head, as he walked towards her, everyone was shocked including Zara.

...

"May I have this dance," he asked raising his left hand as an offering.

"no, no, I... I don't want to dance, you should ask one of my sisters," Zara stilted as everybody in the ballroom gasped, shocked that she just rejected the Prince's proposal.

"see the way she is rejecting you, if it was me I won't have rejected you like that," Beatrice said bringing her hands out, hoping Prince Eric will change his decision and choose her.

"No, choose me, I'm the most beautiful out of my sisters," Annabel declared bringing her hand out for Prince Eric to choose her, the rest of my sisters began to tell Prince Eric to choose them, giving reasons to do so.

"Nonsense, if It's Princess Zara he wants, then it is her he will get," our father said which caused my sisters to be quiet.

Prince Eric tried to reach for her again,

"i... I don't know how to dance," Zara continued to reject but it seems like he wasn't going to take no for an answer, he dragged her softly to the middle of the ballroom as the talking from the crowd stopped and all eyes were on them.

She wasn't a good dancer as she told him because she wasn't interested in dancing ball dance or being too much of a princess, she usually skip her baller classes because she loved to dance in her way and not being told how to move or being yelled at by her tutor on what steps she has missed or how she's not graceful enough.

she was thankful to him for guiding her steps, without anyone noticing, or it would have been a great disaster with her either stepping on his feet on making one of them fall.
