Alix didn’t sleep for long; even if she hadn’t been plagued by nightmares there was too much anxiety in her system for her to sleep soundly. It took hearing a quiet conversation from somewhere else in the castle for her to really remember what happened the night before. Quickly she washed up and threw on a fresh shirt and a pair of trousers, rolling up her sleeves and tying her loosely braided hair up in a messy bun as she slipped out the door and raced down the stairs. She stopped at the bottom when she realized Zadkiel and the hunters hadn’t moved much since the night before beyond settling in some of the chairs.
“Are you familiar with the story of why Lucifer was cast from Heaven?” His voice reached her ears and she paused to listen to the conversation that had apparently been going on almost since she’d left them.
“Wasn’t it for pride or something like that?” He hummed quietly at Marie’s question.
