ALPHA vs BETA

DAMON'S POV

I kept waiting for her to wake up. All night, I watched her, her chest rising and falling slowly as she struggled to breathe. Even unconscious she was suffering. With every breath she took, I couldn't help but think of the many ways I wanted to make Colton pay. My anger grew worse as I watched her and I had to refrain myself so many times from barging into Colton's room in the middle of the night and beating him to a pulp.

I suppose Morgana isn't going to wake up anytime soon. The nurse said she'll fully recover in two weeks and who knows? Maybe it'll take longer than that.

"I should never have left you Morgana." I whisper slowly as I cup her cheek. Her skin cold underneath my palms. She looks like all the life has been drained out of her.

I don't know why but it hurts me greatly to see her like this. To see her in this much pain breaks my heart into tiny little pieces. As if I hadn't caused her enough pain already, Colton just had to go and make it worse.

As I watch Morgana through every second of her deep sleep, I suddenly get a whiff of Colton's scent. He's nearby. I use my super hearing ability and notice he's taking footsteps towards my room. My blood boils as I hear him order my guards to open my chambers for him.

They resist of course, wise of them. I suddenly hear a loud bang as Colton barges into my room. He's really trying so hard to get me even angrier.

"Did you tell your guards not to let me in?" Colton asks as he walks towards my bed, intentionally ignoring the fact that Morgana is lying almost dead on it.

I don't answer him. I stay silent as I continue watching Morgana. I've been refraining all night, controlling myself, because as much as I want to teach him a lesson, as much as I want to inflict pain upon Colton, he is still my brother. I don't want to fight with him. But the sight of him irritates me.

As I stare at Morgana, I can't help but visualize how helpless she must have been while Colton was being ruthless to her.

"Damon. I'm talking to you goddammit. Why did you ask your guards to lock me out?" He asks the same annoying question. As if he didn't know the answer already. As if he didn't invade my room in my absence and beat up my slave.

"You've been locked up in here all night. I figured you were tired and I wanted you to rest and have a calm head after you literally punched me. As much as I want to get back at you, I'll forgive you for it. I'm here to remind you of your responsibilities as an alpha towards your pack. It's almost noon and you're still holed up in here. What are you doing Damon?"

As he keeps nagging and filling my ears with rubbish, I suddenly blast with my superspeed, appearing in front of him. I almost let my wolf come out as anger emanates off my skin.

I sense a little bit of fear from Colton as his eyes slightly fall and he takes a step backwards. I breathe heavily, not once blinking or taking my eyes off him. I've never threatened my brother with my supernatural alpha abilities but right now, I'm so mad at him.

He swallows in fear as I keep staring at him.

"What did you do to her, Colton?" I question him, my voice coming out deep and strong with a growl. I take a small step towards him making him take one backwards.

"What are you going to do? Fight with your brother because of a mere slave?" He asks boldly, his question catching me off guard. Technically, he's right. Morgana is a mere slave, but only to him.

I haven't considered Morgana as a slave for a while now. She has become something else to me. Someone I want to protect, and that might not mean anything to Colton but it means everything to me.

And even if I still considered her as a slave. He has no right to break into my room and touch my stuff.

"I asked you a question. I suggest you give me an answer." I state.

"I gave her what she deserved. The vile thing is lucky I didn't kill her." He utters with hatred seeping from his voice.

"Who the hell gave you permission to come into my room?" I ask slowly.

"So, I need permission to visit my brother's chambers now?" He questions, his courage slowly coming back as he tried to challenge me. Big mistake. If I get even slightly more irritated, this won't end well for him.

"No, but you do need permission to visit your Alpha's chamber. We might be brothers Colton, but I'll have you remember I am still your superior and what you did was an act of disrespect. You had no right and according to law, you should be punished for it." I speak slowly, making sure my words get into that thick skull of his.

"Why the hell are you even making a big deal out of this? What do you care about a filthy slave? Why even go through the trouble of treating her? And you even let her use you bed? She should be hanged for what she did to me!!" He defends as his starts raising his voice.

This man has some audacity.

"And what exactly did she do to you?" I ask him, trying to hear him out even though he's spitting rubbish from his lips.

"She disrespected me in front of everyone. She had the nerve to interrupt a punishment given to my slave, and more importantly, she has made you grow weak brother." He states.

"If my Morgana does something disrespectful, she will be punished by me. On my terms!! What exactly made you think you had the right to take things into your own hands. You came in here and did this to her, because o fa bruised ego?" I say to him, my anger rising.

"Ever since she got here, you've changed. Slaves are to be treated like slaves Damon and that's what she is. And don't try to act like you care about her. She's in this situation because of you! YOU took the humans as slaves! It is because of YOU she was locked up in the slavery organization for who knows how long. It is because of YOU Reece brought her here because YOU needed a new pet, because apparently all the other ones you had either died from torture or committed suicide. YOU have ruined thousands of human lives so what the hell makes her so special? You're a hypocrite Damon!" He states pointing at me as he gains courage and takes a step forward.

"Tell me brother. Is it because she's beautiful little thing and you're looking for something to stick your wood in?" He mocks as he looks up at me with a smirk.

Before I know it, m knuckles are making contact with his jaw as I send him flying across the room. I take long stride towards him and grab him by his collar and throw him against the wall with so much force he coughs up blood. Right now, I'm not even holding back with my werewolf force. I just want him to feel what Morgana felt.

"You had no fucking right!" I scream at him as I land another punch in his face.

He coughs on the floor as he tries to regulate his breathing while I tower over him, looking at him with anger. He's a beta and he has healing abilities, so no matter how hard I hit him, he'll just heal in a few seconds.

"You're making a mistake Damon." He coughs as he speaks and tried to lift himself off the floor.

"I'm not going to fight you because of a slave. She isn't that important. But if you hit me again, I will defend myself." He challenges as he rises to his feet, and now we're face to face in front of each other.

His angry eyes stare back at me as they threaten to turn yellow. Just as I am about to land another blow to his face, Ryder walks in.

He stares at the two of us in confusion and his eyes widen as he notices Colton's bloody face.

"What the hell is going on here?" Ryder asks with confusion.

"And what happened to her?" He asks pointing towards my bed. He has always had a soft spot for he humans.

"Ask Colton." I simply answer him as my eyes remain fixed on Colton's.

"Colton?" Ryder voices out as he looks towards Colton.

"I beat her up. So what? Damon's the one throwing a tantrum over slaves." Colton states, not once taking his eyes off me.

"Okay whatever. I have no idea what's going on here but I've been waiting for you two all morning. Have you guys forgotten we still have a vampire problem to handle?" Ryder questions with a frown.

"If Damon wasn't so in love with his pet, maybe we would have come up with a plan by now." Colton says.

"What?" Ryder asks with even more confusion.

"Why don't you tell him Damon? Tell him how your pet has influenced you to the point where you beat your brother." I take a step towards Colton and Ryder quickly steps in my way, holding his palm to my chest as he stares at me seriously.

"Whatever problem you two have, settle it like grown-ups. You can't just punch people whenever you want Damon." Ryder states.

"Get out. Both of you." I speak calmly and slowly to my brothers.

"Take some time to cool off. We still have a meeting today." Ryder says as he pulls Colton out of my room. Colton doesn't hesitate to give me a nasty look before he walks out.

I let out a deep sigh when I'm left alone in my room again. I flex the muscles on my neck and on my biceps as I try to calm myself.

To an extent, Colton was right about some of the things he said. I'm biased when it comes to Morgana. She's slowly consuming me but I can't help the fact that I care about her. Colton was right when he said she's in this situation because of me. But he had no right to beat her up.
