Intruder (2)

In contrast to the arduous walk from the manor all the way to the warehouse, the way from the gate to the actual warehouse was short. But Talia felt like time had slowed time mysteriously for her as it seemed that the closer she got to the door of the warehouse, the longer it took for her to reach it.

It would have been a lie to say she was not afraid and wary of whoever was inside the place. One, she was alone. Two, there was no certainty that they would be alone. And lastly, what if she mistaken the warehouse caretaker as a thief? Wouldn't she be filled with guilt for wronging the warehouse caretaker?

She had risked coming so far as to investigate quietly the source of the open gates as well as the faint foot marks left on the ice path. There was no turning back now.
