Chapter 17- Queen Of Eternity (Part 2)
*Click*
Another clicking sound reached Rena's ear and made her look down. She had already given up on escaping because of her broken severely limbs and prepared herself for the worst. However, it seems fate still had some fun to have with her.
The rocky ground started illuminating with a weird light that she couldn't recognize its color. The color came in the form of veins that spread all over the place and made it very hard to see. The light was too blinding after all.
"Wtf! Ugh! My eyes!" One of the gang members fell down and started screaming at the top of his lungs. His eyes suddenly exploded out of nowhere and blood spilled out like a fountain. His screams were gut-wrenching to the point where Rena had to close her ears just so that she doesn't hear him.
After that, the man stopped moving altogether and died. The others felt a chill run down their spines and horror filled their faces as if they had seen a ghost… No, even worse.
Without much thought, they started running away and trying to climb the walls to get out of this cursed place. But, what they didn't know is that when they stepped foot inside this pit their fates were sealed in stone.
*Pop* *Pop* *Pop* *Pop*
A series of chilling popping sounds echoed inside the pit one after the other in a cursed symphony of death. The screams rose to the sky and shook the ground. It was as if this world turned into hell for a few moments.
Rena closed her eyes and ears and tuck her legs into her chest. Her filled tears filling her eyes as she tried to calm down and think of things that made her feel safe. Or to be more precise, the only thing that could make her feel safe and protected.
"It's ok, Rena. I am here." A voice suddenly spoke to her. Her eyes widened as she looked up and saw the person she longed for the most.
However, he wasn't talking to her at all but to someone completely different. Besides, Reo didn't look like the normal him.
"Is that… Reo when he was young?" She muttered under her breath in disbelief.
How could it be? Why was she seeing a younger Reo in front of her? Was she starting to hallucinate because of fear? Had she fallen into an illusion created by this pit?
She didn't know at all.
"Reo…Waaaaaaa!!" Another voice cried to her left. She shifted her gaze and much to her surprise there was a small girl sitting down and crying as she wiped her tears.
It was obviously her younger self crying. She could see the reason why the younger Rena was crying. Her leg was bleeding from an injury. It was most likely because she fell down.
"Hehehe, don't cry, Rena. Here, let me see your leg." Reo approached her and hugged her tightly as he smiled gently then pulled her leg to check her injury. His hug and affectionate words made her calm down and stop crying as she looked down.
After looking at her leg, Reo pulled out a tissue and wiped the blood before he put his hand gently on her leg.
"Pain, Pain, go away don't come back another day…"
He started singing a lullaby as he caressed her leg. His sweet voice filled her ears and made her completely forget the pain as she only looked at him. His serene face, when he was singing, was getting engraved into her mind and her soul.
After singing the song, he opened his eyes and looked deep into hers. They sat silently for a good 15 seconds.
"See? The pain went away."
"Mm, thank you, Reo. I love you. Don't ever leave me alone, ok?" She said as she jumped in his arms and hugged him tightly.
Reo smiled and hugged her back.
"Me too. Ok."
Rena watched this interaction silently. At some point, a small, nostalgic smile appeared on her pale face. She even forgot about the pain that she was feeling at the moment. This scene was something she clearly remembers from the distant past. After all, this was the time when she discovered that she fell in love with Reo. It was by far the most cherished moment of her life.
Then, as if it never happened, the two silhouettes disintegrated and got swept away by the wind. She took a deep breath and looked around her with a slightly calmer look.
"Who is it? Reveal yourself."
At first, no one answered but after waiting for a good 15 seconds, something started changing. The light under her started growing fainter and fainter until it was completely gone. Rena waited for whatever was there to reveal itself.
*Crack*
A circle appeared in front of her out of nowhere. Then, from inside the whole, bright light in the same shade as the previous light veins. However, this time, a silhouette rose from inside the hole.
Rena covered her eyes from the light but still took a peek at the person that appeared.
The light vanished and the new person finally was fully visible. It was a woman but no ordinary woman.
Her beauty was simply transcendental. It was something that simply couldn't exist in any mortal. A beauty of a goddess… A true goddess.
Her white long dress flowed in the air floating alongside the goddess like a sane creature. Behind her was a huge golden clock that floated near her back and ticked gently every second.
However, the most noticeable feature was by far her eyes. She didn't have pupils and instead looked like two clocks glowing in sky blue color.
Rena felt her breath get stuck in her throat when she saw this person and a desire to bow to this woman filled her heart. However, she stopped herself and listened to whatever the woman was going to say.
"We finally met… My dear daughter." The woman said with a loud yet also incredibly beautiful voice.
"Daughter…?" Rena muttered confusedly.
"You don't have to think about it that much, Rena. I have come here for one sole reason. For years, I have been searching for you in the entire universe after I lost you. When I found you, those bastards stopped me from communicating with you."
The woman's face turned slightly sad as a gentle frown filled her holy face.
"What… Do you mean?"
"I would like to tell you everything but we don't have much time to chat. This message will disappear soon so I must finish my goal quickly."
Then, she approached Rena and touched her cheek with her incredibly slender hands, and rubbed it gently.
"Listen, my dear daughter. I made you see that memory for one sole reason. To ask you a question."
Then, she took a deep breath and continued.
"That boy… Do you want to protect him?"
Her question was surprising and could get anyone stunned for at least a minute or two. But, that was simply not the case for Rena since she never had any doubts about her desire.
"Yes, I want to protect him." She touched her heart with her working hand and looked deeply into the goddess's eyes not wavering or hesitating.
The woman smiled at her determination. Rena could see the satisfaction in the goddess's smile as clear as the sun
.
"Good, my daughter. Having someone you want to protect is always a good drive to seek power. We are emotional creatures after all."
Her eyes looked into the horizon as she added.
"That's why… I came here to pave the path for you, my dear daughter."
