CHAPTER 026: The Original Part III

As the Original was nostalgic about her mother, she revealed every secret she had to him. Prince Caius did what he intended to do with her. He made her ingest a strong type of poison, with that she could only experience pain for a brief time and die. It was the most considerate action he could offer to her.

Prince Caius did not anticipate that the first Princess became immune to poisons from the years of intoxication of Queen Eriela.

Nevertheless, she became weak and paralyzed—

She was so vulnerable. The Original watched Prince Caius, his knife hidden from its sheath removed. She could not speak; she could not move but she could see him.

His eyes had one resolve, there were tears desperate not to fall out and warmth in those eyes. Yet, he did not have the slightest hesitation to end her life.

Her nose was itching, and her eyes became moist and heated, but she held back her tears.

»Love is tragic, the man that will have your heart can't have your life, remember that.« Her mother's voice echoed in her head, »If you ever fall in love, you may give him your heart but once you give your love. You must abandon those feelings.«

»Why mother?« Her gorgeous mother smiled sadly.

»It's the only thing you can't trust in this life. Love will be your misery, you can never love anyone in this world, do you understand?«

»I understand, mother.«

The Original gasped as she felt the sting of the pain of Prince Caius' betrayal. She was not able to understand it before. But she knew what her mother meant by seeing the blood flowing out of the wound that he stabbed.

»I thought the poison was strong enough to kill you without you feeling it. I'm sorry that you have to go through this.« Prince Caius's voice cracked as he sat and carried her body close to him.

The rigid expression he had before was falling off. His eyes, nose, neck, and face became red; his jaw was clenched, and the visible appearance of veins on his neck and forehead was indicating how much he was holding himself not crying.

The first Princess who was trying hard to prevent her tears from evacuating her eyes, those tears started to stream as if rivers.

He was hurt as well…

They were really in love with one another, but one of them did not need love.

»You're good as dead anyway,« he whispered as he braced her bloody body.

»If you die, you don't have to go through such hardships and your death will make it easier for me to have my throne.« He said as his eyes staggered to his hand that was soaked with her blood.

As she was dying slowly, her pity transferred from him to herself to both of them. Because she realized, that the man he loved, loved her back, and this was still their ending.

It felt so wrong.

Her mother was wrong.

Because Queen Eulasha herself died at the hands of a person she did not even love.

Love was not the mistake. Love was not tragic…

Making the wrong decisions, trusting the wrong person, not loving yourself, and depending on your life someone.

That was the true tragedy.

The Original could not blame Crown Prince Caius for betraying her. Because this was her choice, to trust him. It was her mistake.

»Achk—« he stabbed her again.

»I will pay for my sins in our next life, I will love you more than my life, more than anything, so please die. Die.«

That was the spark of the first Princess's resoluteness. If she were ever given the chance to live her life for the second time, she would become whom she wanted to be.

She would change this land that made people scared to fall in love with someone they cherished. She strived to do her best to give everyone the right to be happy and free. It did not matter whether it was a man or a woman.

She would become a ruler, more than that, no man could ever have her as his wife, and no one would be able to rule over her because she would be the most powerful King that had lived. She would govern the land and people, not for her mother, not for Prince Caius, but for herself.

She smiled as she dreamt that to happen.

»I… wish you t-the best, Prince Caius.« Prince Caius stared at her, and she was looking straight at his soul.

They slowly closed… those gorgeous turquoise eyes hide away. Her body became sluggish and it lost tension.

He was in a trance when she finally stopped breathing. He laughed and cried at the same time. He did not let go of her for a long time…

She was dead.

After the death of the Original.

Things did not go the way Prince Caius envisioned them. Queen Eriela deceived him. He lost his title, and his people were executed. He was exiled from Vortrion, got ambushed, and was almost killed by bandits in the wilderness.

The Original's death was sacrificed for nothing. When he was lying forlornly, losing every ounce of blood under the heavy rain. He recalled those turquoise eyes, they were beautiful. He shed tears, he cried pitifully as he repented killing the only source of light and warmth given to him. He was on the verge of dying and was on the edge of becoming insane.

He had almost died but survived. He had to have amnesia— He forced himself to remove all of his memory of her— or he would die in aggravation.

When he began to gain back bits and bits of his memory... he got obsessed with claiming the throne of Vortrion.

There was the drive that was bursting on him that he should have the throne for himself. That it was the only purpose of his life. He should at least have the crown in exchange for her death.

He succeeded.

People, status, and power. He gained everything; he became the King of Vortrion.

He changed nothing. He ruled the kingdoms as it was. That was not the Original wish, Caius did not fulfill anything.
