Chapter 32: Sunshine

|Author's note: Just to clarify, this novel is free and will continue to be so, I do not plan on signing a contract and put a paywall on this. This is all just a hobby of mine. Even if I want compensation, I would set something up that wouldn't ruin this free novel.|

Perseus POV

"You're flustered, and kinda cute."

"Stop that!" her face was bright red

"So why are you here? To steal what's already taken?"

"Please, I'm not used to this, stop it!" She pleaded

How is she not used to it? She's a goddess, I'm sure she hear similar things all the time, maybe I'm the only one who dared to say it to her face, even if she rejects me now, she will at least gain a lot more curiosity about me and become more conscious of me.

Wow, I sure am smart when it comes to things like this.

Anywho(Yes, it's a word, well slang anyway,), this goddess is extremely cute, seriously, my heart feels like it's about to explode and I've just met her. If no one have taken her, I will...do not tell Leilah I've said that, currently her bloodthirst is directed elsewhere, I do not want the bloodthirst to be on me.

"Is this why you make that prayer?! Just so you can flirt with me?" she demanded

"Of course, you're the sun that brighten up my day."

She is now covering her face with both her hands and looking away, didn't think that smoke coming out of someone's head is a real thing, but here we are.

"You want more cheesy lines? Because I've got a lot prepared."

"No." she replied with a muffled voice

"So how can I help you, sunshine? You clearly need something urgent since you took the effort to break into my room."

"Leilah..." she composed herself with a red face "I sensed her on you, and if I remember her unique requirement correctly...that means you're a reincarnated soul."

"Don't everyone reincarnate after death, is there something about me that attracted both you sisters?"

"No, you remember your past life, that's the difference."

"Come on, look me in the eye, I'm not going to devour you, I'm 8."

She then composed herself once again and took several deep breaths.

"How were you able to make contact with her?" The goddess asked

"Well sunshine-"

"Stop calling me that!"

"Why? You've never told me your wonderful name, so I'm gonna of course find a substitute. Well, sunshine, do you want me to continue or tell me your name first?"

"It's...Maple." She replied in a low voice " Maple Autumn."

"That's a pretty cute name for a pretty cute goddess."

"It's embarrassing, it's not an adult's name."

"Wouldn't it be cute to see your nieces and nephews come up to you call call you auntie Maple?"

She then pondered on the thought for a bit.

"As cute as that sounds, you don't have any siblings, so I wouldn't even have a niece or nephew." She responded

"Oh, you can already see a future together with me?"

"I'm leaving!" she got up puffing with a really cute angry expression.

It's really taking my all just to not tease her even more, I mean I will, but I want to prolong her stay so I can see all of this more.

"Fine, just sit, I'll tell you...no need to get so worked up, sunshine."

"I told you, it's-"

"Sunshine or Maple, your choice."

These sisters, I swear, I'm running rings around them when it comes to a conversation, even if I enjoy teasing someone, Leilah used to be the more ladylike person who spoiled me often, she's probably why I prefer older women in the first place.

I didn't even confess to her because I thought that deep inside, she is nothing but a woman who I conjured up with my imagination. Heck, she was the one that called me out on it and confessed first, right after saying that she figured out I had a little crush on her.

Though now, she's very scary, I don't know how she switched up so quickly.

"Leilah and I are just really good friends, I was once on the very lowest point of my life, I can't really help but think I was nothing of value, I wanted to kill myself, she then appeared in my dream, I remember her saying that she only appeared to those who has been on the verge of death many times or those who are contemplating it, I was both...and she saw that I was really young to experience such things, and she's been with me ever since."

"That doesn't make sense." Maple commented "What were you doing that make you go on the verge of death?"

"Oh, I wish I was the cause, it was done to me, I'm more or less just a helpless victim who've mostly recovered from it."

"Mostly?"

"Yeah, why did you think I can kill or hurt people without feeling a ton of grief? I'm more or less used to the ideas that humans are demons in disguise. As for Leilah, similar to you, she was the only thing that really lit up my life and make it somewhat bearable to continue living, to continue bearing all those pain alone, knowing that when I sleep, I'd at least have someone to talk to and comfort me."

"Were you a bullied outcast?" she asked

Just how optimistic and innocent is this goddess? A bullied outcast? Who am I, my readers? If that was just the extend of what I've experienced, I'll be hella grateful, but no, life just decides to throw stupid knowledge into people's head and let them gain curiosity.

Anyone heard of Pandora's box, heck, it wasn't even a box, but a pithos, which was a jar. She was blessed with wisdom and curiosity by Athena, CURIOSITY, and yet who was blamed for envy, hatred, and all these other things, Pandora and the husband who fell for her beauty, the gods gave.

I blame life itself for all of what I've suffered, if only therapy can just take all my memories away of that project, maybe I wouldn't be so messed up, innocence is something that can only be taken and not given, and so...if I managed to find a way to go back, I'll make sure those who went unpunished suffer a bit of what they've inflicted.
