Chapter 99: The Message

Perseus POV
"Well since the church is late, it means that I'm gonna have to beat up the heroes, Ruka, Leilah, Chief, prevent the others from interfering I'll take on all the heroes."
"Is that why you asked me to come along? To beat the heroes up?" Chief Aminu asked
"It's just 18 heroes, 1 of which is the only denizen that is born in our world, so 17 and a half vs 1 guy, what could go wrong? Besides, I got us far away from the village so no damage can be caused apart from the path here."
Our tree is almost indestructible and fireproof, so most of the buildings wouldn't really take damage since it's made from the same material that only a certain amount of people know how to cut and alter the wood, it's just safer for the people if I did it here with the chief to back me up.
I already told the chief most of the story and he was easily on my side.
"Alright, if you're sure now, be careful in a fight, stop and retreat when you see no way of winning." he advised
"Right, thanks da-, I mean chief...why are you 3 staring at me?"
"You just stopped yourself from calling him dad." Ruka replied
"What are you talking about?"
"Do you perhaps see me as a father figure since you lack one in your life?" the chief asked
"Y'all are making this weird. If anything, I see you as a bother figure than anything."
"Don't be ashamed, I see this as a great compliment. Do you want to go fishing this weekend?"
"That does sound n- Wait, hell no. Stop giving me weird looks."

The heroes easily fell into the easiest trap in the book, a pit fall trap with spikes at the bottom, I'm not waiting for anyone to pull their moves first. Anyway, they got armor on and reacted in time to not get damaged as the 2 rose guardians created a barrier that isolated me and the heroes.
The heroes expected a fight and came armed, but not my traps. I can hear the people outside the barrier shouting and my group making their threats, I threw those who aren't the heroes out the barrier, when I finished the barrier restrict anyone to get out, and I turned to see that they are now getting ready in their stance.
Their gears at 4 stars at best apart from the teacher who got a 7 star one, they can't use high level gears since it'll slow down their development if they grow too reliant on it so they have to meet in between, so this is great.
One girl in heavy armor charged towards me with a giant shield, but she tripped on a wire, specifically a sticky 4 star thread, it made a cut past her armor and made a gash onto her skin, she tried to put it out but pulled out her skin along with the wire.
On both my hands, I have this claw that dispense the wires like this green haired weirdo from anime where most of the main cast died, the manga ending was pretty good where a couple lived but the guy died in both.
Right, back to my fight, they're panicking and they're attacking separately which is exactly what I want, I then injected mana into the ground and activated my explosives and blew them up, not only did I do damage, but created a smokescreen as well.
3rd Person POV
The did not follow their training at all, Perseus just attacked them from their backs, but when they rush at a direction, they made contact with the wire, they can't even focus properly since they barely train for the case where they can't see.
Perseus knocked them out with a hard hit all to their back of their unprotected heads since almost all of them don't wear a helmet, one was calm enough to blast away the smoke with wind magic only to not see Perseus at all before he was was also knocked out.
Perseus is coming in and out of the heroes' shadows and they can't even act fast enough to block it, they can't use magic in the enclosed area since they might hurt their allies and can only rely on minimal magic.
"Sarah the Paladin, right? You're the team's defensive support, no wonder you're standing easily, but your mobility should be restricted a bit thanks to your armor." Perseus commented aloud
"You should just cooperate, by doing this, you're just confirming that you're the culprit." she retorted
"Oh I am, those murderers got what they deserved, not like I'm any better, and as for you, it'll be better if you just play dead."
"You cooperated with a demon and was caught doing so, you escaped judgement only to do something worse, what's wrong with you?"
"I seriously do not care."
Perseus then disappeared again and Sarah turned behind only to not see him, but he was only appearing in front of her instead and delivered a strong hit and knocked a couple of her teeth out and she was then out cold.
"You all come here thinking that you can just have your way, you worthless mercenaries." Perseus laughed over them "Today, I'll volunteer as your teacher, and it's to never walk into a lion's den."
He then casted a large explosive fireball and throw it at them, but the teacher recovered rom the first surprise hit and is is now standing in front of him with his body clad with lightning.
"You're supposed to also be a teach, right? Well you really are the sole threat I should look out for." Perseus said
"I'm Rolan Urgess, a 7 star mage, I'll give you one last chance to turn yourself in." he threatened "You can't defeat me alone."
"Well, y'all are supposed to be stronger together and yet the rest aren't dead only due to me sparing them, I could have just ended the heroes, I'll make sure that today will be a message."
"Oh yeah?" Rolan sneered "What's that? That all sinners will ultimately be killed by the heroes."
"No, it's to not fuck with me."
