Chapter 184: A Familiar Phrase

Perseus POV

I kept the book given to me in my storage to read later, but man that demon lord sure is a great enchanter, known amongst the demons as the father of enchantments due to his prolific record in it despite the fact that he wasn't the first to do it, just the greatest. As on the human side, they put the term arguable before it as they don't want to glorify him too much.

I investigated the site and travel through the shadows to listen in on conversations and it seems that there was no one talking shit about me, not even in a whisper, it seems that most are scared that they might end up like those priests on the eastern continent who were just found out to be criminal masterminds and linked me to the killings since the timing is just too perfect to not be me.

Since I can't really learn anything, I left before the auction early, there wasn't anything useful for me anyway, I did see the guy I'm supposed to fight at the sight though, the guy is like fucking 2m tall with muscles for days, like I'm fricking impressed, and the cardinal next to him is the guy I'm aiming to kill.

Surprised that the Drake and Pike didn't come, so they can't even confront me after putting a bounty on my fucking head.

The day of the tournament arrived and all the first rounds are hosted at different arenas at the same time with mine gathering the most people for some reason, the only thing I have over the guy is that I have better equipment as he wore 9-star equipment compared to my 10-star ones.

The chief still couldn't figure out who exactly arranged him to be my first opponent, but we already guessed that the cardinal was probably involved. There's no evidence to prove it apart from speculations.

It's all useless though since it's now time for me to fight this guy and to most people, this is already the finals for my block since the rest aren't that strong anyway, the others in my block who'll make it to the main tournament just aren't as good, and apparently, this year, they're only taking the final 2 remaining to go to the main tournament, so it's more intense than ever.

I need to get to the top 10 and the guy in front of me is the guy who's the most competent in the prelims of my block, and I'll just have to use certain dirty tactics and loopholes to win. One of which is the fact that using my powers from the previous world isn't against the rules.

"Well, let's tussle Robert."

"My name isn't-" the guy tried to say something but the bell rang which signaled the start

Robert POV

I don't know why, but I feel some forces in the air that misidentify me for some reason.

The cardinal tasked me with this job and the pressure is on, at first, we thought it was easy, but apparently, the boy in front of me is skilled enough to take down an 8 star mage meaning that I will struggle a slight bit. We even have assassins in the stands to stay near his family just in case I somehow is close to losing, I can threaten the family man with that fact and take an easy win.

But no one thought that he'll have that stupid chief come along, he also moves separately from the 2 roses which is unlike his usual behavior, so that's 3 unbelievably strong people. Even then, we thought that we'll have some hired actors to be merchants who'll distract them long enough that we can take his family out from afar, and yet it's foiled by another woman with unfathomable strength who's definitely a 10 star level mage, who is she? And why do I have never heard of her?

Perseus' eyes glowed and his mouth twisted into a wicked grin, he charged at me with a claymore that I intercepted, he quickly pulled back and brought his sword down with both arms and I felt it, this boy is as physically strong as the rumors says.

All of a sudden, I felt a strong force pulling me towards the ground, this boy...he's using gravity magic, smart, now my arms is being pulled down and his blade is aiming for my face, he's slower than the rumors says though as he then pulls the blade back, did a spin and used the momentum to aim for my sides which I intercepted as well.

Makes sense since his blade is usually used by people like me due to its heavy weight, he then pulled a barrage of attacks and I was on the defense, it didn't take long for him to put his sword away and used his gauntlets and fight me with his fist.

I charged against him and he now used his speed to dodge and parry my attacks, I got hit and I can tell that one hit is enough to bruise me and after several hits, I realized that he's broken one of my ribs, I used wind magic to explode and separate us.

With the distance, I charged my hand with all my mana and shoot out hundreds of condensed fireballs with each the size of a grapefruit. I have more mana than he does and that I'm sure of, he then created a bubble made of blue flower petals to surround himself.

With one hand summoning the thousands of fireballs, the other I condensed light into a beam to shoot and concentrate into the weakest point of his barrier and shot at it, and now with both hands, I used my full strength to destroy the barrier, and in the next second, I see my attack destroy the barrier and I didn't stop it in time as my attack went straight through his unprotected head.

No killing, that was the first rule and I broke it...but just before I can think of the consequences that I'll face, in a blink of an eye, I heard a familiar phrase.

"Well, let's tussle Robert."
