Chapter 253: The God Of The North (4)

Leilah POV

It took me a while, but I managed to get myself some private time with my boyfriend after the victory, currently, I'm just enjoying a hot bath with him, he looks a bit tired and it seems to have worked as he is spacing out, I expect him to doze off in a few minutes or so.

"Man, you're seriously out of my league." he said as he wrapped his arms around me

"Stop saying that, I don't care about looks though it is an extra perk since you got some of it."

"You're like a goddess, you're too beautiful for your own good."

"It helps since I am related to some."

"I know that this is a bit intrusive, but what did you talk about with your mother?" he asked

"Nothing much, I was mostly just asking about how she was doing, I haven't seen her for so long."

"It was quite long..." he trailed off and yawned "What do you think about the god of the north, we're going to meet him on the way back, will you be able to fight him?"

"Sure. He's my brother anyway, if he needs a beating, I'll give it to him. Besides, he has quite a long name based on what Maple said."

I then proceeded to tell him the name, and it was mostly the middle names that annoyed him, I just rambled on for a good 30 seconds before I end it, but I told Perseus that I only called him Isfrid.

But he changes his name a lot, so everyone remembers it differently, it's something about him changing his worth or something, I'm just gonna call him Isfrid, but back to my point, he changes his name to fit his 'value', and if his value fluctuates and changes, his name will also change to what he thinks with be worth attaching to his value.

He's quite a weird person, but it's not like I can do anything about it, everyone has gotten their own quirks, I'll just have to be the only normal one that everyone else can strive to be.

Lilith has terrible memories with him, but the information...well, she probably figured out why he turned cold and the way he is, among my god siblings, I think I used to know him the most.

It happened hundreds and hundreds of years ago when tragedy him. A greedy stalker fell in love with the same woman that he did, and this was when we were all really related, so the human was probably my niece or one or two generations below, but back to the topic.

When the stalker realized that she didn't choose him, he killed her and their children, Isfrid heard his children's screams, but by the time he got to the scene, none survived. The loss shattered Isfrid's world, leaving him broken and filled with indescribable pain. It was as if a part of him had died along with his children.

The stalker in question was also a demon, who was later killed through incredible torture, the demon race lived for quite a long time back then, and so the torture lasted about a decade, he only felt empty after realizing that the demon finally broke and died from the pain..

I didn't know a lot about what happened next, so I'll just combine Lilith's and Maple's versions of the story.

In the aftermath, and to fill that emptiness, grief consumed him, and he struggled to find solace. His once bright spirit turned cold and detached. Unable to cope with his own emotions, he lashed out at the world, seeking to inflict the same pain he felt onto others.

He became a bully, targeting those who he deemed as impure and violent, demons, and since he can't kill the regular ones, he went after Lilith.

He didn't necessarily take any pleasure in tormenting her, but regardless, he took every opportunity to belittle and ridicule her, as if by doing so, he could help avenge the death of his first lover and children.

But I couldn't help but feel a sense of empathy for Isfrid. I wish to see past his cold exterior and recognize the pain that resided within him. It was a pain that had twisted his heart and clouded his judgment, blinding him to the beauty and compassion that existed in the world.

I somewhat believe in my heart that I can get his past self back, but I am still incredibly angry, Lilith has told me of what he and the other 2 did, and Maple was very apologetic due to how she avoided her and only watched everything happen without doing anything.

Lilith's eyes when she described her experience, it was similar to that of Loki's when he described the experiments brought upon him when he was imprisoned, they resembled each other uncomfortably.

My anger is also intertwined with some glimmer of hope. Perhaps, deep down, there was a chance to rekindle the kindness that once resided in his soul, to help him heal and find redemption for the darkness that had consumed him.

Maybe Perseus can talk him into releasing his feelings and talking it out, he's quite good at that, but that's on the way back, we'll meet him on the way back as Perseus wants to do something on that continent, and Isfrid will come to meet with us no matter what.

As long as we can talk some sense into him, Perseus can stop most of the projects carried out on the continent and not get killed by his hands, because those 2 are very cautious of him as they said he'll kill without worrying about any consequences.

I also look forward to going back on the moon, it's not that I miss it, but I want to know what I missed that is required for our future plans and had my boyfriend's future self instruct us to go back.

"What are you thinking about?" Perseus asked

"Nothing."

"That's a lie."

"It is, but you have nothing to worry about."
