Chapter 280: Isfrid, John, Bob?

Perseus POV

I had Ruka teleport us to the northern continent, and it didn't really take long for the winter god to appear right before me. Orion already separated with Buddy to go to the spot Chief Aminu written down.

There's a project of extending the period of a person's prime years, kinda simple, but yet, horrific, as yes, it involves sacrificing people, which is kinda cliché, but not too unexpected.

So, in front of me is the weirdo who constantly changes his name according to how much he values himself.

White hair, blue eyes, looks to be in his mid-30s, 190cm tall, his face is stoic and he appears to dress in a military uniform of sorts. Wouldn't say that he looks weird, but after being told his background, I should be careful for now.

"To think that the moment you decide to finally decide to visit my territory, you invited an impure pest and this...animal," he said pointing at me and Lilith for the last one, 'But since my worth today is lower than usual, I'll allow it."

"Animal?!" Lilith exclaimed, "For the record, I've never done anything to you!"

"Your kind is all the same, dirty, obsessive, and egotistical. Be grateful that I called you an animal, I much prefer over...your kind."

"To be fair, he's not entirely wrong..." I accidentally muttered aloud and earned a glare, "I meant your mind, you got a dirty mind, you're egotistical and can be obsessive...please spare me."

"I'm buying you a pill, cuz you won't survive if you don't consume any before what I'll do to you." she warned before turning to the winter god, "And what do you mean by my kind? We're both gods! We literally have the same parents, we're the same kind."

"Have you heard the term, 'not everyone is born equal'?" he asked, "Despite living for centuries, you still haven't properly learned anything...hah, our parents were really soft on you."

"Alright, cut it out you 2." Leilah intervened, "Isfrid, can you bring us to a quiet spot where we can all talk? Or at least safe enough to endure the powers of you 2 when you clash?"

"It's Patrick today." he grumbled, "And where the hell were you?! You left us just like our damn parents, being the eldest sister grants you the right to abandon the rest of us or something?!"

Out of all the names you could have picked, you went with Patrick? Go for something with some more zest to it or something, like Lemon or Citrus, those are good names with proper meanings.

And how does the death of your lover make you change your name on a daily according to a self-evaluated confidence in yourself about your own self-worth? Like I've never encountered this before.

The only way I can like get under this guy's skin is by either doing it literally or insulting his previous lover and child, which will not end up good. Can I make fun of his naming choices?

I mean, Patrick? Really? If I were him, I'll go with...um...go with...Jimmy? Nevermind, that's almost just as bad, at least it's not Bob, that's a terrible name.

Like imagine a villain giving a cool speech and ending up with calling himself Bob, he'd be owing me my then wasted time. Shit, I'll take his place as the villain, cuz that's just a shame.

The god teleported us to this sort of cloud palace where we were led inside and arrived on this balcony where there were not enough chairs, so I had to sit on the railings, which he did not like.

He then used magic to create this flying screen of sorts where there are several live sceneries...well, it's hard to put it into words but imagine security monitoring where you're watching several cameras, and this one is just a god's version of that to watch his people.

Lilith then pulled me onto the floor and sat in my lap of me while I was cross-legged on the floor, which Leilah did not like one bit since usually, it's a competition between her and Buddy.

"Stop shifting, it's uncomfortable."

"You don't complain when the other 2 do it, showing favoritism already?" she asked, "Besides, this isn't the first time, well technically anyway."

"Please stop bringing up our other extracurricular activities."

"You said it, not me, alright, you guys can continue with your stupid tea and talk, I'll enjoy myself down here."

"Just wait, I'll ask the servants to bring a chair, but you 2 will be sitting at a different table."

Man, like is this guy really redeemable? Like I know that Leilah came along with the request of letting her take charge when talking to this guy but he's kinda weird, I know that losing a lover can be devasting, and I wouldn't fare any better, but it's been years, shouldn't something change?

Is it cuz he doesn't have a sense of urgency due to his super-long lifespan? I mean that's why humans are able to advance much faster than demons and gods when it comes to machinery and technology.

Leilah POV

Perseus still has a doubtful look as we're now exchanging communications through our eyes, but I can tell, he did change, he's slightly softer... the animal is tame to what he used to say, and that's also counting the fact that he's usually nicer with me around.

Lilith told me a few more insults that were much worse, so I see some hope, but even then, I am a bit disappointed in his progress, he's not over his hatred of demons, Lilith caught a large stray bullet here.

She did plant the seed of hatred in the humans, and it WAS caused by him and 2 other gods...but this has been taken too far if only our parents are here...but without them here, I'm the closest we can get, even if I can't get him to change now, I just need to plant the seed of hope and forgiveness in him, and hopefully and eventually...he'll change.
