Chapter 287: Ignored (3)

|Author's note: I'm gonna pause on the other series and focus on this again, the series started off well but then slowed down tremendously. Somehow, the series where I put the most details and most thoughts and effort always do worse than the ones where I put so less effort into making. Similar to my irl situation, the more I study, the lower the grades I get on my tests, it's like a curse.|

Lilith POV

Quiet, there was a small boom earlier, but it then died down, I went and peeked into the room where the 3 are, and Cassius had his head hung down low with his eyes in a trance while Perseus' eyes were glowing.

Leilah was sleeping on his shoulder but I can feel something connecting the 3 of them together, and with his eyes glowing, I can already tell what.

"Yo, can you hear me?"

"Yep," Perseus answered, "We're currently both figuratively and literally in Cassius' head. Didn't take long for him to lower his guard, and with just a few seconds of eye contact, he didn't even realize that we were no longer in the real world."

"You're really scary sometimes, you know that?"

"Coming from the goddess of magic, I'll take that as a compliment."

"You need anything? Cuz I don't think talking with both me and that idiot in 2 different realms is good for your head. An ice pack, alcohol, maybe a massage?"

"I'm good, just be ready at any time to intercept that guy once we're out here again, he's currently really pissed off."

Stop giving me that grin, because that's a really good look on you, I might not be able to control myself.

I already sent the fox and Orion to stop the forbidden project that we're here for anyway, shouldn't be long till they complete it. It'll take days though, but they're doing it while leaving no trace behind, as for the fox, that's different, because his magic is a bit more recognizable, however, the deaths he caused are more terrifying than his usual swift way of ending things quickly.

Perseus POV

"I will kill you if you do not stop!" Cassius declared.

"Stop what? Telling the truth?"

"Antagonizing me."

"You can try."

I taunted him and he took the bait, Leilah just yawned while he glared at me, and he shot a blast of light in my direction, but it just went through me, and he then put on a puzzled look.

He tried it again, but his spell just phased through everything and did no damage. Well, this is just the start.

Cassius POV

"You think you're superior? Do you think you're beautiful? Well, let me show you the truth. Strip away the grand façade, and what do we have?" Perseus gave off a chuckle, "A pitiful, insecure deity desperately clinging to a false image, you're a weak god, you can't do anything to me, because currently...I am more powerful than you."

"You? More powerful? How dare you speak to me, a superior being, in such a manner?"

"Look at you. Your beauty is merely a shallow illusion, a thin veil over your twisted soul. You're nothing more than a hollow vessel, lacking substance or genuine greatness."

I am filled with nothing but rage alongside the doubt, a surge of anger and defiance coursed through me. How dare this mortal presume to dismantle the very essence of my being! Who were they to challenge the foundation of my existence, to question my right to adoration and power?

The fury burned within me, fueling a desire to strike back, to prove my superiority once and for all.

Yet, beneath the layers of rage, a flicker of doubt lingered. Could it be possible that there was truth in his words? Were my beauty and superiority just a result of my relentless pursuit of validation?

And was it nothing more than a futile attempt to fill an insatiable void within my soul? Had I alienated those around me, blinded by my own self-obsession?

Confusion gripped me as conflicting thoughts battled for dominance. A part of me yearned to dismiss Perseus' words as a mere provocation, to reaffirm my own divinity and superiority.

But another part, a quieter voice, whispered that perhaps it was time to reassess my existence, to confront the insecurities I had so long denied.

No...I am superior, everyone says so, not just me...I am divine...I am number 1.

"You will regret mocking me! I will strike you down and show you the true extent of my power!"

I tried attacking him again, but it did nothing as he only relished my growing visible frustration.

"Strike me down if you can," he said with an icy smile, "But it won't change the fact that you're nothing more than a pathetic god, desperately seeking validation from us so-called insignificant mortals. I'm gonna break your supposed superiority and show you that it is nothing but a fragile fantasy."

"You think you can break me? I am unbreakable! I'm a GOD!"

"Oh, but I will break you. I will dismantle your sense of self-worth piece by piece until there's nothing left but a broken deity drowning in their own insecurities. Your power means nothing when your soul is twisted and rotten to the core."

"Stop it! You don't understand the weight of my existence!"

I kept attacking him, but nothing worked, I resorted to dirtying my fist and striking him physically, but he just caught my hand.

"Let me go! You insignificant-"

"I unfortunately understand perfectly. You're a pitiful god, cursed to live in perpetual emptiness. Your beauty and power are masks you wear to hide the hollowness within. Your arrogance is merely a desperate attempt to fill the void that consumes you." he retorted with a monstrous grin.

"Why? Why would you do this?"

"Because I can. Because your arrogance and cruelty have hurt countless beings, and it's time someone showed you the truth. Your reign of narcissism ends here." He said as his eyes glow ever brighter with every step.

I was defeated.

I was broken.

My beauty...my superiority...they were illusions I had carefully woven around myself had crumbled, leaving behind a sense of emptiness that echoed through my very essence. The arrogance that had fueled me for so long had been exposed as a feeble attempt to compensate for the hollowness within. I...I am not superior, not before him.
