Chapter 298: Newspaper

Ruka POV

"It's okay son, having a fragile ego can sometimes be a good thing." Nyra said while trying her best to comfort Perseus who experienced a large dose of his own medicine, "it means that you can still improve."

Ivy started it, but my future son, Asher...yeah, I'm gonna need a son like that if I were to have a child with him, someone needs to pull him down from his high horse. I'm not going to repeat what he said afterward, but it was just...hurtful.

Heck, even I felt pity.

"Don't you think we went too far?" Ivy asked.

"Nah, he deserves it, he made me cry once, having his spirit broken every now and then is deserved, good job son, tell future me to give you every possible reward."

After Perseus calmed down, he went to charge up the time machine thing and put Leilah in charge of tracking the homunculus, but he moved like a corpse, I can tell that it hurts, and I enjoyed it. Maple and Lilith are in charge of his little brother, one was to make the experience painless while the other was to jump in his head if it was too strong to handle.

The fox was to guard my old cavern while Perseus is in it and I was assigned to guard the house, everyone then split up and went to their place, I sat in the living room and read the local newspaper.

I sat by the window, the morning sun casting a warm glow across the room as I unfolded the newspaper. It was plastered about the disappearance and kidnapping of Zoris' king, but I turned the page to read everything related to the heroes and the current war going on that's taking place in the southern continent.

The anti-magic cult presented a unique challenge. Their members sought to eradicate all forms of magic, viewing it as a corrupting force that threatened the balance of the world, and using magic isn't acceptable to their 'God.

They had devised intricate spells and enchantments specifically designed to counter the heroes' abilities, but it only slowed the heroes down, they couldn't be stopped. That Rolan, the current strongest hero...well, he's making a name for himself.

Unless Phineas steps up or at least, one of their top 5 fighters comes out, the fight is going to be a one-man show, and despite the local publishers trying to be as neutral as possible, as expected, they're praising the heroes a lot.

If Perseus was never born, this village would have easily allied with the heroes because once the heroes reach their prime, only the demon lord can stop them, the demon general will give them a close to death experience at best, and that's only if the hero they're fighting with are isolated.

For our world, magic is the lifeblood of our world, interwoven with the very essence of existence. It brought wonder and beauty, but also danger and chaos. unlike Perseus' world, if magic doesn't exist, this world won't be the same as it is, and I'm not sure that I would like that.

No one does, and that's why no one likes the anti-magic cult, most people aren't necessarily against them believing in 'God', but the fact that they're trying to force their opinions on others gives their God a bad name.

Talking with the man himself, God seems respectful, can't say the same for that cult in our world, I can't wait to see the difference between our side and the other side since they're apparently nicer according to Perseus.

As for the technology aspect, I know it will advance more to make up for everything if magic doesn't exist, and...Perseus said that the 'internet' is revolutionary, but frankly, I don't care.

The heroes' party though, like the previous ones, in their relentless pursuit of justice had become symbols of hope for many. They represented the possibility of harnessing magic for the greater good, protecting the innocent, and are known as the savior of the human race.

The fight between humans and demons has gone on far too long, mortals really are something, I can't believe that both sides held on to their grudge for this long. Can't they just send up representatives and fight it out through a chess match or something?

I then heard some squirming coming from Vincent's room, meaning that it started, but it was not my job, so I distracted myself with the news of the king's kidnapping.

The details painted a grim picture as the king of Zoris had vanished without a trace, leaving his subjects in a state of shock and uncertainty. Speculations of foul play and political conspiracies filled the air, but little concrete information was available.

They did find the sleeping powder Perseus and Asher left behind, but the only lead they got so far was that it came from the Urgess territory, the Urgess family is now recruited to also work on the case, which is just falling into Perseus' nefarious plan.

That idiot may be a goofball with a fragile ego, but he sure is cunning.

The newspaper article provided a glimpse into the public's perception of the situation, confusion, and concern. I couldn't help but wonder how long it would take for the pieces to fall into place, I really want to know their top speculations after the king is found.

The king disappeared from the castle despite being highly guarded, and they are trying their best to search for the mage who caused the thunderclouds, but there are no proper answers all the theories brought up were severely flawed.

"I thought that you don't like to read." Asher said as he handed me a glass of juice.

"I usually don't, but I like to keep up with everything every now and then. Besides, shouldn't you be packing?"

"Already, I always make sure that I can pack up within 5-10 minutes, unlike you, I'm always ready. I can also say that I'm...ready perfectly."

"Why did you deepen your voice? Is that the anime thing that you and Perseus enjoy?"

"Yes, you get it."

"Is that from Powerpuff girls?"

"You don't get it."
