Chapter 299: Newspaper (2)

Lilith POV

Since Vince kept squirming too much and Maple's magic didn't seem to do much, so with Maple on the helm maintaining everything, I went into the dream.

Vince was staring at this man in a cage, I recognize the man as his description was given by that boyfriend of mine, but still... it was strange to see the original man of that Lucifer ability. I'm sure that after being a captive for so long, he would love to escape from the cell, but Perseus would say to not unlock it just in case Vince's head can have Lucifer's memories flood in if he really is the reincarnation of Lucifer.

"Ah big sis, what are you doing here?" Vince asked.

"Making sure that you're okay as requested by your older brother."

"I recognize you through his eyes." Lucifer said while pointing at the boy, "I would recommend you try a more passive approach, going aggressive all the time will eventually lose its charm."

"I do what I want, I'm a goddess."

"You certainly have a high opinion of yourself."

"Of course, I'm a superior divine being."

"More like a superior divine bitch."

"What was that?"

"I said that you're a bitch." he repeated calmly.

He's infuriating already, and Perseus gets along with this guy?

"Anyway, do you think that you can disappear so that my boyfriend's brother live and sleep in peace?"

"Sure, do I look like I want to be here?" he asked sarcastically.

"You're more sassy than Ruka."

"And you...maybe we got off on the wrong foot, let's try to get along, shall we?"

"Big sis, you know him?" Vince asked.

"Not as much as you think, but I wouldn't befriend him if I were you, he's not a hero."

"I saved Loki's life and gave him what made me desirable." Lucifer chimed in.

"Yeah yeah, the past is in the past." I decided to ignore him for now, "So how do we relieve your pain? You, the man in the cage, suggestions?"

"Aren't you supposed to be a divine goddess? Why are you asking this measly mortal?" he questioned in an annoying exasperated tone.

|Author's note: I don't know why, but I should have used the word exasperate more, like I can substitute it in many situations and yet I keep forgetting about it.|

"Do you want me to eliminate you? I know I have the ability to, you know."

"I am so scared, I've faced enemies far worse than you."

"I knew it!" Vince exclaimed, "You're a former hero, aren't you? No, wait...in a cage...are you the first demon lord?"

"He's too pathetic to be one."

"I do have this dark transformation where I can resemble a demon, but I wouldn't call myself a demon lord." Lucifer said to Vince while ignoring my statement.

"Woah, you can transform into a demon? What if..." Vince then got into his pondering pose, "My mothers did say that they have a lot of children who didn't make it, are you one of us? Perseus can transform into a demon and you can too, so are you also a Silver?"

3rd Person POV

In the dimly lit chamber, a group of seasoned adventurers stood before the kidnapped king. Luckily he wasn't that far away and with a quick glance, they can mostly tell that his regal form was unharmed, yet despite being able to talk normally about his condition and talking normally about most subjects, it was observed that there was a mysterious curse or spell had rendered him unable to reveal the identity of his captor.

Frustrated by this limitation, the king had managed to communicate a clue through writing, as his mouth remained sealed.

The king couldn't write the full name or anything close to it, so he just wrote 'R' and showed it to the group, the party members then gathered around the king, and they examined the parchment on which he had hastily written the letter 'R'.

The king then ordered a map of the kingdom to be laid out on a nearby table, where he furiously pointed to the territory and the letter, signaling that it was a person with a name that starts with R and comes from the Urgess territory.

The possibilities seemed endless as it was quite vague. They debated amongst themselves, considering every angle and each potential suspect who bore a name associated with that initial, but of course, there was one very well-known name that they didn't dare name as the suspect.

The king was then immediately returned to the kingdom and the name Rolan did came up, however...Rolan has a very solid alibi.

The message was immediately sent to the heroes about the recovery of the king and the identity of the kidnapper, but witnesses and fellow heroes testified that he had been engaged in the ongoing war effort far from Zoris when the kidnapping occurred.

Confusion swept through everyone, even if they had no certainty in the first place, they were still shattered by this unexpected turn of events.

The mystery of the kidnapped king and the true identity of the culprit...even with a closer examination of the evidence revealed a confusing pattern. While the accused hero had a strong alibi, the clues seemed to circle back to the prime suspect once again.

Something was amiss, and no one knows why? But everyone was hopeful as it's been only 16 hours since the kidnapping.

"Do you think it's Perseus?" Rolan asked.

"What is it with you and your obsession with him?!" Trevor exploded.

The war took a toll on him and his frustration finally burst.

"Seriously, do you want to be placed in an enemies-to-lover style of novels or something?!" he exclaimed, " We keep tabs on him all the time and he's at the village, why would it be him?!."

"What if it's an imposter? And what if he's the actual reincarnation of that apocalypse-class guy and possesses the same power?"

"Right, an imposter, Perseus, a reincarnated soul with memories of his past who can manipulate illusions to fool everyone, and I, the guy who likes that kind of plot won't notice the tropes? It's Candice all over again?"

"Who's Candice?"

"CAN DEEZ NUTS FIT IN YOUR M-"
