Chapter 304: Me (5)

Perseus POV

"I'll merge with my past self." Vince told me, "But I need time before I want to do it."

"Yeah, the man already told me that he'll stay and explore the village until you're ready, get some rest. But first, may I ask why?"

"I believed that by merging with Lucifer, I can gain a deeper understanding of myself and my place in the world. I want to know what I am, I want to know more about me."

"It won't be easy to learn and hear the truth, you know, you might emerge as a ne person."

"I've made this decision because I knew it wouldn't be an easy journey, but I was determined to know the real stories that lay dormant within me. I like books just like you, and I would love to hear the stories of who I am."

Vince decided to not tell our parents about what happened and our parents didn't really bother to ask why he was bummed out and was spotted drifting along the shelves in the library either.

He headed to his room while I headed for mine.

The homunculus should be relocated by now as they're in a panic, but Leilah already memorized the specimen's life signature and placed a hidden mark on him.

Unless it's a god or a rose, they won't find anything on that project, and I know for sure that Rowan can't be allowed near the homunculus nor is he allowed to know of its location, they're scared of his connection to me.

So I'm safe to go after it, I'll just wait for it to settle down in one location, and in the meantime, I'll go negotiate with Isfrid and Saber.

"By the way," Leilah whispered and pointed toward Lilith who just came in, "She looks a bit out of it, do something, I'll do my best to not intervene."

"Right, thanks."

Buddy jumped onto the bed and as usual, he would try to separate me and Leilah by wedging and sleeping in between us, much to her displeasure.

Lilith laid on the bed and from the looks of it, it's one of those times where she's actually gonna sleep instead of staying awake the whole night.

Maple is out to attend to some matters with her pope and Mark since they apparently needed her urgently.

"Your hands are soft." I commented as my hand was tightly held by her, "You really don't work a lot."

"That's because I don't need to train myself like you do." she replied softly, "Your hands' firm...though I don't know why we have to say it, we already know what each other feels like."

"That's a weird sentence."

"Just trying to break the ice, I'm socially awkward, the fact that I said something first or took any kind of initiative is a miracle enough."

"Which came in handy because you broke up with that Meira bitch." Leilah muttered under her breath, "She doesn't shut up."

"She got her quirks, but she's a really sweet person."

I then felt the grip tightened around my hand. Buddy then gave me this bark and I felt him shaking his head, I also felt an ominous aura emanating from Leilah before she goes on a small complaint about how they're better, and yet Meira still somehow remains memorable.

Lilith then told me her latest worries, which...again, I personally don't know how to deal with it, but...I tried to comfort her the best I could.

She then also revealed why she tried to pursue me in the first place, but that remains too insignificant, she's here now and that's all that matters.

"It's cute that you worried about something that far in the future. So you can see yourself marrying me...that's a good step."

"Are you seriously teasing me? Lilith asked

"Yeah...you're starting to love me, and I can't be any happier."

"I hate that stupid word." she scoffs, "Love...what kind of idiot created the word anyway?"

"I love Leilah and I'm starting to love you too, would that make me an idiot for feeling that way?"

"No/yes." Leilah and Lilith answered at the same time before Leilah apologized and promised not to say anything.

"Orion said that you were impressed, shouldn't you be happy that we have a proper talented successor in the future?"

"No, I'm scared."

Leilah then just got up and moved to the other side where Lilith is now in the middle, she then hugged her younger sister tightly while playing with her hair. It isn't usual to see her down like this, so having Leilah by our sides helps a lot.

"You know, if our children inherit your powers, we might need to baby-proof the entire house. I can just imagine them levitating our furniture or even accidentally causing a mini-earthquake during a tantrum."

"I'm not Ruka, I do not want an earthquake and see people hurt." Lilith countered.

"Just giving an example."

"Yeah, besides I'm sure we can handle a little household chaos." Leilah added, "Our family is weird after all."

"What if...what if I don't feel that instant love for our child when they're born? What if something is wrong with me?" Lilith asked, "I heard that some parents feel that...I wouldn't want that. You saw how I acted around our children, what if I'm no different in the future?"

"If there are moments when you don't feel that immediate connection, know that it doesn't make you any less of a loving mother." Leilah said, "It takes time for bonds to grow and develop. We'll be there for each other."

"So you can be like a proper older sister sometimes." Lilith finally cracked a smile.

"Just wait until our kids inherit my looks and smarts. They'll be unstoppable and they'll get anyone they want."

She just turned to me and kissed me, Leilah got back to her original spot and got me in the middle again. They took turns just kissing me and after a few more chatter, we slept through the night.

And I finally can rest without needing to do my usual stuff.
