Chapter 314: Fake Town (3)

Perseus POV

The fake town seems adamant and stubborn about their decision to not go seek help from the kingdom, they chose not to seek any outside help and continued to isolate themselves, there are some who are thinking of sending a person out against orders, which I then leaked the audio recording and messages to their top brass.

I also mingled in and spread the rumors of either the higher-ups are going to rinse their stubbornness till the town's death or go to the opposite side and spread the rumor of those who are trying to revolt by planning to send someone to go get help against orders.

I even spotted the homunculus, he was quite scary.

As I continued navigating the town's intricate dynamics, I realized that their devotion to the homunculus ran deep. They saw it not just as a powerful creation but also as a guardian and protector of their community.

Their bond with the homunculus was akin to a family, and the thought of putting it in harm's way was something they couldn't bear to entertain, something that was not allowed by the kingdom.

But I guess that this was the plan based on the paper the Chief summarized for me, the homunculus was ordered to get those around him to be attached to him since it means that they'll be more willing to sacrifice themselves for him.

Additionally (I should start using that more often), by everyone going against the order given by the kingdom to not be attached to the Homunculus, their willingness and their so-called camaraderie is stronger.

They've lived with the Homunculus for so long that they mixed their personal lives with their business and saw the Homunculus as one of their own.

The homunculus had the looks of a guy in his late 20s and had a height of 191cm tall. Quite tall and imposing, with a sturdy, muscular build. Or his skin was a smooth, pale shade with jet-black hair and blue-colored eyes.

The homunculus got this unnatural perfectly symmetrical face and its limbs were also proportional and sculpted with precision, each muscle defined beneath its skin...this motherfucker is stupidly handsome.

It also moved with this eerie kind of quiet grace, its steps deliberate and purposeful. As it walked, it emanated an aura of power and authority, I can see why this guy was made as a bane of the demon lord, or now, he's made to go against me, he got a chance.

I think that there's a plan of getting a fake rose to boost this guy's strength even further, but I'm gonna stop this guy before any of that can happen.

But even without that, the aura he gave off was eerie and intimidating and despite its intimidating aura, there was a certain allure to the homunculus, a magnetic draw that captivated those who beheld it.

It was a being of beauty and strength, I can see why people are drawn to him and see him as their own, its voice was fucking beautiful as well...but...all the shits he spewed are lies, I can sense it, his talk about camaraderie...all of it was fake.

He has fake emotions, but he was a natural actor, no one would have noticed if it wasn't for me. It might be because he didn't have an actual mother, he was born in some tube or chamber, and a mother's emotions can affect the baby's emotions as well.

However, in the case of the homunculus, the absence of emotions was not solely due to the lack of a biological mother. The homunculus was created through artificial means and modified genes.

So he lacked any emotions at all due to the deliberate design choices made during its creation. Its creators sought to fashion the ultimate guardian, the ultimate soldier. I have no doubt that he'll sacrifice those who consider him family by himself for his own safety, since the longer he lives, the longer he can protect his creators.

But if mind games can work, I can use the fact that the absence of emotions made it lack any ability of joy, sorrow, or any other human feelings. It observed the townspeople with an objective eye, unable to empathize with their joys and struggles.

Although necessary for its role, this detachment often made it seem distant and unfeeling to those it safeguarded, I wish I could use this to turn the town against him, but realistically, it won't happen.

They're mercenaries and hired to just protect him in the first place, they don't expect to have their feeling reciprocated.

Tomorrow, the dominoes will fall tomorrow, Zoris will now lose its current greatest weapon. After this, I'll briefly visit the Burgess household and leave once I'm sure that Rolan is slowed down, I'll leave for my previous world.

"Lilith, I'm gonna need your arrow tomorrow to finish things off." I requested once I got back after my daily assassinations.

"So how strong? An arrow good enough to just kill the thing or like the whole town."

"I'll weaken him, and then when I give you the signal, you can shoot your thing to destroy the town and finish the guy off."

Based on some gossip I've heard during my mingling, the heroes seem to be in good negotiations to get their hostage back, and it seems that your demon continent is running out of resources for the fake rose.

They're gonna slow down a lot for a long while, so that will give me enough time to shut things down on the other side, shutting that company and their operations is easy, but killing the masterminds afterward would be hard, I'm gonna have to find a way to isolate them one by one somehow.

I guess I can try and spook them out of it. The extinction class guys are human, so Leilah can just one-shot them since her powers will kill them almost instantly, as for the gods...I need their identity, and I'll figure out counters then.

"Leilah, I remember you saying that you can bring me with you when you meet someone in their dreams, right? With the right ritual?"
