Chapter 333: Casual Outing (4)

*Present*

Dawn POV

I've spent a lot of time possessing Meira and talking with Luke, he was a very special soul, very much tortured due to his past, something that I couldn't forgive myself for indirectly helping for it to happen. A kind person who was forced to do questionable things to survive.

And yet, as I observed him from within Meira's thoughts, my heart swelled with a mixture of admiration and sorrow. His eyes held a depth of pain that resonated with me, his kindness shone bright against the harshness of his circumstances.

I could have prevented all this and yet...if I did, we would have probably never met...it hurt me just thinking about it.

The more I listened to his experiences, the more I understood the complexities of his choices. Survival had its own way of shaping us, forcing us to make choices that we would never have considered otherwise. Both Meira and I didn't question it, we would've done the same.

As I listened to his conversations with Meira and watched his interactions with the world around him, I couldn't help but feel a deepening connection. His laughter, the fire in his eyes when he spoke of things he loved, and even the shadows that occasionally clouded his expression, all painted a portrait of a person who had been both broken and resilient.

I wanted to take care of him and tell him that he deserves better, I don't know if it was because I broke off with Jerah then, I don't know if it was because I was still mentally weak, but...the more time I spent with Luke, the more I found myself drawn to him. There was an unspoken understanding between us, a shared empathy for the struggles he faced.

And in those moments when our eyes met, when his guarded walls seemed to falter, I glimpsed a vulnerability that spoke to something within me. but I also felt jealous and envious as they were for Meira to see...not me, it was conflicting, to say the least.

I felt like I was just watching him from afar, wishing I could ease the burdens he carried, the pain that he hid behind a carefully constructed façade.

As I continued to be a silent observer, I realized that my feelings for Luke, or should I now call him Perseus, had transcended mere curiosity. I had fallen for the kindness that still shone through the darkness, for the strength he displayed in the face of adversity.

And I felt it was all worth it, I am no longer an observer, he is here with me right now...I don't think I can tell him all of this, he'll have to find it out himself.

"I take back what I said, I can't tell you."

"What? Why?" he responded

"Because I said so? Though..." I then leaned in to whisper in his ears, "If you offered something more than a kiss, I will reconsider."

"Handholding?" he suggested

"In what world is handholding...hah...come on, get up, the cruise is going to stop by Japan in a bit over an hour, the girls are excited to go."

"Why didn't you say so?" he responded, "I'll go workout a bit in the magic rooms or whatever it's called, then we'll meet up to experience Japan a bit, I've never been there before."

"Really?"

"Never got time, besides, teach the girls how to use chopsticks please, they are still very clueless."

As he got up, he gave me a quick peck on the lips before heading out to do his workout...the feelings on my lips lingered...It was a gesture of affection. As the door closed behind him, I was left alone with my swirling thoughts. The memory of that brief kiss played over and over in my mind.

Perseus POV

While in Japan, I plan to find a brief moment of free time to escape and go destroy one of their facilities real quick, and the moment wasn't that far away as Dawn led us to this private arcade owned by her subordinates.

"Ruka, Buddy, let's go real quick, we'll go destroy their facilities, one in this country and a few in other countries, it'll be 2 hours at best."

"Can't you bring Leilah instead?" Ruka asked, "I'm actually enjoying myself here."

"Fine, Leilah, come on, us three will go cause some chaos."

Cain POV

Our facilities are destroyed again, this time, over the span of a few hours...this is infuriating.

The news reports keep flooding in, each one highlighting another facility reduced to rubble. My carefully constructed empire, my legacy, is crumbling before my eyes. But who is behind this? I don't even know if it's a calculated attack by a well-organized group or the actions of a single determined individual.

My security team is working tirelessly to gather information, but every moment that passes without answers feels like an eternity. I've built this empire on a foundation of power and control, and to see it...LIKE THIS?!

If it's an individual, who would be brave enough to hire a team to lead an attack squad to attack us, so it's most likely an organized attack. But they also sent a message of 'I'm back, bitches!'...singular...it's hard to tell.

I've always prided myself on being one step ahead of my enemies, on foreseeing their moves and countering them with precision. But this... this is a new level of audacity. It's as if they're daring me to come after them.

How dare they challenge my authority, my control? No matter who they are, I will find them, and they will pay dearly for what they've done. I've spent a lifetime cultivating power, manipulating the world to bend to my will. This will be no different.

I will uncover the truth, I will identify the culprits, and I will make them regret ever crossing me. The destruction of my facilities will not go unanswered. This is a war, and I will always be the one left standing when the dust settles.
