Chapter 370: Keith's Confinement

Perseus POV

"I'm surprised that you have so much energy despite not eating or drinking for 2 days."

Keith Hughes,  the once-mad scientist, now bound and confined in a dimly lit room, a rush of satisfaction washed over me. It was a feeling I had longed for, a moment of triumph that I had dreamed about during the darkest days of my captivity.

I couldn't help but relish the irony of the situation. The man who had reveled in the suffering of his subjects, who had considered himself above the laws of morality and ethics, was now a prisoner of his own making. It was a poetic justice.

As I secured the door of the confinement room, locking him away from the world he had once terrorized, I knew that I had accomplished something significant. I had captured the mad scientist, the one who had caused so much pain and anguish.

Ruka would love to see my more sadistic self, but this is something that I like to do alone.

"You took everything from me."  he muttered

"Everything, no...no...everything? Your family's alive, mine's not. I don't even know what they look like, and none of your files contained anything related to my parents. They were killed without hearing me say that I love them."

"You expected me to be apologetic, to beg for forgiveness?" he sneered. "You were nothing more than a means to an end, a subject for my experiments. Your suffering, it was all in the name of progress."

"You seriously never stop, do you? And besides, progress? Your twisted vision of progress involved torturing and mutilating innocent lives. You played god with no regard for the consequences."

"Consequences? I've pushed the boundaries of science and human potential," he declared. "I've unlocked secrets that no one else could even fathom. You're just too blind to see the bigger picture."

"Well, your bigger picture just got erased out of existence by a cat. Can you believe that?"

"You will die...even if we realize that we are losing, we will forcefully invade heaven. Only his angels will fight back despite God's willingness to die, we will get the machine, and when we do...our perfect world will be born."

"Well, enjoy your last moments, you will die soon enough, I'm not gonna torture ya, however, I know some people who might."

"My previous projects?" he smirked "I may die, and since you have god-like beings on your side, even if you win, you will receive no justice. Your people will never receive equality and I have nothing left to lose. My invention will either change the course of history or plunge it into chaos. Either way, your precious justice won't matter in the end.

"Your people will keep being discriminated against, they will be hunted, they will die, all because of you...well, not totally, humans would kill them sooner or later, you only fast-forwarded the clock's hand. Not that it matters as your name will be etched in history as the cause of extinction for your kind.

"Mutants, monsters...all of you are valued like worms. And after you all are gone, humans will continue to kill each other due to their greed and self-interest. They will kill those who don't look like them, and when that happens, you will remember me, and you will regret our plans to reshape the world."

"Man, you sure are racist." I said sarcastically

He then released this blast of twisted and unsettling sound laughter that filled the air.

"Hah...you...after the death of Frankenstein, you can have the honor of being my successful project. After all, my experimentations worked. You are much stronger."

I couldn't help but wonder about the depths of his depravity. What had he done in the name of his experiments? How far had he pushed the boundaries of science and ethics? The answers to those questions were chilling.

I know what he did to me, but I can't imagine just how worse it can get.

"How are you going to kill him?" Leilah asked, "You just forcefully shoved food and water down his throat."

"Simple, I'll let his other victims do it. Several brains are better than one, and his torture is fresh in their minds as living in this world is just a constant reminder, that they will make him suffer more than I can."

"Wow, where has this Perseus gone all this time?" Ruka asked

I then turned to Ace and Amora, they were preparing to go home as they had eliminated the 2 gods that they were assigned, they left the other 5 for me to do as they didn't want to interfere with my so-called destiny so much.

"Visit this world after like 5 months, if I somehow got brainwashed or Cain succeeds, you have free rights to delete this universe."

"Cool." Ace replied as he let me play with him one last time before leaving.

"Bye, I hope death doesn't come for you too early, dad." Amora added before leaving.

"Okay, we got 5 gods left, that's good." Maple commented, "I can take Lust, she's the least effective on me."

"Bring Buddy with you when that happens, he can no longer feel lust, he can break you out of the trance if you start to feel it."

"Yeah, I remember when he was first created." Lilith chimed in, "If it weren't for Mom, he'd be making the foxes the dominant race, just purely out of the population numbers. He's like you."

"What are you going to do?" Maple asked

"Obviously, make myself the world's enemy."

For too long, the world had been torn apart by divisions, conflicts, and mistrust. Nations clashed, ideologies clashed, and it seemed like there was no end in sight. The human>mutants were deeply ingrained in society, and it was tearing us apart. Keith was right about that.

I had watched as the world became increasingly polarized, each side more convinced of its righteousness than the other. I had seen the suffering, the hatred, and the violence that it bred. And I had come to a somber realization: the only way to bring people together might be to give them a common enemy.

But becoming that enemy meant shouldering a burden of guilt and responsibility. I would have to commit acts that went against everything I believed in, causing harm and chaos on a global scale. It's the only way to ensure that this world doesn't end.
