Chapter 423: Grief (2)

Perseus POV

Eislyn went and came back after an hour, and briefed me about everything, my grandparents volunteered to be captured for an exchange of hostages. The human side thought that they were getting a bargain since they thought that they could lure me out...but my grandparents had other plans...

The heroes who were at the fortress were slightly cut up at best, but they did take out a lot of mages and soldiers along with them...they never planned to be a burden, and this was the easiest way for them to be of use till the end...

But this also means one thing, and that's the war has started, we're officially in it, and I'm allowed to just beat any of them without any regard...and beating my grandparents up...? Those heroes should've stepped in, they're supposed to be the beacon of hope and justice, but I guess they wouldn't care about us.

At least my grandparents went out just the way they wanted, they went out with a bang, both metaphorically and literally...I can't wait to just end all of this. I'm relieved that everyone else is okay, so I don't need to panic, my grandparents won't like to see me cry over this, so I'll just bear with it.

Grandma Lynda is probably going to be disappointed, but there ain't no way that I'm not planning on doing some revenge...when I go back, I'll weaken the demon side, I want the heroes to win in that fight...and I'll eliminate the heroes with my own hands.

As for Trevor...he's a good guy with a good heart, but...if he chooses to still stand against me in the end, I'll give him a merciful death. Sarah...? Probably the same thing, I don't know much about her, but she's just doing her job.

Leilah POV

"Hey." Cordelia greeted

"Um, hi."

"No need to be nervous, my lovely husband sent me here to help you since we're apparently alike in personality."

"You have tendencies to kill your lover when you see him with another woman while you're pent-up too?"

"Oh no, if I'm pent-up, I'll just seduce him till he helps me." she waves me off, "Anyway, you're probably struggling with how to comfort him, ain't ya? Please don't mind the way I speak, I only do this at home."

"Um...okay...?"

"You don't have to say anything to him, based on what my husband told me, your Perseus has been through a lot, grieving would not come naturally to him as he probably feels like he has nothing to cry over deep inside. And from the way his grandparents went out, he won't cry, all you need to do is just be there for him, you don't have to say anything."

"Should I go now?"

"No, let him think over it a bit, his grandparents are heroes for sacrificing themselves to save those watchers of yours,

"Thank you for the advice."

"Of course." she responded, "No need to thank me, besides, I got this from Amphirite, who learned it whenever Poseidon loses a good child."

"A good child?"

"Those Greek gods cheat on each other all the time." She shrugged, "So they have a lot of children, and among those children, some manage to become favorites and make the gods slightly sympathetic."

"What did she teach you?"

"Mostly knowledge on how to support Perseus, I've learned a lot, but I mostly don't use them as they were mostly lessons on how to properly rule...and how to secretly assert myself as Perseus' number 1 despite his many wives."

"Many? Including you, it's 3."

"Right, children included, on how to assert myself as number 1 despite many other priorities. Don't tell the others."

"Shouldn't...the children take priority?"

"Oh, they absolutely should." she agreed, "But, if he ever feels troubled emotionally, he would always come to me, sometimes, treat your lover as if they're a child, it works."

"Really? How does that work?"

"Well, I just try to be really understanding and patient. You know, like how you would comfort a child. Listen to his feelings, offer support, and create a safe space for him to open up. Silence is sometimes the best type of comfort, and for both our Perseus, it seems to be effective."

Perseus POV

"You okay, Ellis?" Perseus asked

"Yeah, I'm fine, just had to get myself mentally ready a bit, but I'm fine."

As we were talking, Perseus' purple-colored eyes then changed all of a sudden, it went from purple to his left eye silver in color and gold in his right.

"She's here." He said and turned to a portal that opened up out of nowhere.

The air around me buzzed with a strange energy. It felt like the room itself was charged, crackling with an otherworldly power. It was as if the very atmosphere had come alive, humming with an invisible force.

At that moment, everything seemed on edge, and the air crackled with a subtle tension, marking the significance of her visit. It was a simple space transformed by an extraordinary force, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was at the center of something much larger than myself.

Lady Time then walked out of the portal.

"Listen well, for the threads of time weave a warning," she spoke, "God is ready to invade your world and it will affect the dynamic of your timeline's existence."

"Why?"

"He's a god who has powers and influence in 2 worlds, killing him will affect both worlds, and heed this warning. Once God is vanquished, you must replace him swiftly. The threads of time are delicate, and the longer the void remains, the greater the damage to the very fabric that binds reality."

And she then turned back to her portal but didn't walk through it yet.

"I can help you with what you need, but since you are responsible for your own timeline, save it first." she said, her voice echoing in the air, "After you complete your mission, come find me if you want to destroy the time gauntlet...or if you want to learn how to properly wield it."
