Chapter 434: Grief (3)

Perseus POV

"And she leaves just like that." Perseus commented

"Just curious, can you take her?"

"Sure, but these time people are going to be replaced almost instantly, creations of the will of the universe and all that...or multiverse, whatever. They're not entirely powerful, just good at maintaining time."

"What if they meet another guy at your level who's threatening to break the timeline?"

"They'll keep spawning in new ones and fight them repeatedly till they're exhausted. We got limits too."

We then headed to his home where I then sank into an armchair with a cold drink in hand and Buddy on my lap, and the weight of the news settled over me like a heavy cloak. The gods were finally invading our world, and instead of dread or fear, a strange excitement bubbled within me. It was as if the long-anticipated climax had arrived, and the time for action was now.

I stared into the flickering flames Leilah was casting to entertain the younger children, my mind was racing with thoughts of the impending divine invasion. Most would crumble under the weight of such news, but not me. I had been preparing for this moment for years, accumulating knowledge, forging unlikely alliances, and training rigorously for the inevitable clash.

There was no fear in my heart, only a sense of readiness. The excitement stemmed from the anticipation of finally bringing an end to the perpetual struggle that had defined my life. I had meticulously planned for this, knowing that the gods' arrival would be my ticket to the peace I so desperately craved.

And...Cain, the orchestrator of my suffering, in the approaching divine forces, I knew that somewhere within that formidable army, Cain lurked. The man who had let me rot in isolation, subjected me to experiments, and turned my life into a living nightmare was now aligning himself with the very gods who sought dominion over our world.

I legit tried using fancier words, but Grammarly got other suggestions for this particular paragraph. Orchestrator was the only one left remaining.

A surge of mixed emotions coursed through me, anger, resentment, and a grim satisfaction that fate had woven this peculiar twist into the narrative. As the anticipation of battle loomed, I couldn't deny the desire for a confrontation with Cain. The gods, the sins in particular, were merely the extras to the personal vendetta that fueled my every step on this journey.

The scars on my body, both physical and emotional, throbbed with the memories of the agony Keith had inflicted on his behalf. I could almost taste the bitterness of the years spent in that wretched cell, enduring the unspeakable experiments conducted by Cain and his cohort of scientists.

But now, the tables had turned, and the gods' invasion presented an unexpected opportunity for retribution.

"Don't let revenge consume you now." Siege the wolf commented as he walked next to me, "I've heard what just happened after sensing the energy earlier. Just know that even our Perseus has regrets."

"What do you mean?"

"He killed a lot of people and we, along with him, thought that we could just anonymously donate money to help solve their problems, but that is not always the case, about 10% of those children grew up with a lack of one parental figure and became criminals...if you can help it, spare some people, not every enemy wants to be your enemy."

"The ones who are invading my worlds are different though, they literally kidnap children and torture them for money, I was literally sold as some sort of object, and to the UK of all places."

"Oh, if it's that, eat them." he suggested, "If not, do like what we did, create a maze for them, and make them find their way to the center, and leave a chest with one pistol and a bullet, the maze has no exits, so if they want to live longer, they'll eat each other, if they want to end it quickly, they're going to fight each other for the chance."

"That's...wow...you guys really don't play nice."

"For the things they've put my bond through, that's mercy," he said before casting a barrier around us, "I would have (@$&$@(&%@@( and @($(#&($#*#()$#&#&$, and end it with a #($#(*$(#*($*#(#*$($*&@#*@."

The details do not contain any inappropriate words, it's just that the things he has mentioned would even make serial killers cry from just imagining it.

"I...wow...that is mercy, how do you even...what?"

"It's called getting creative, you'll learn it someday." the wolf said before walking off.

I blame the author for what he's just said.

No, I did not teach him that nor write it into his character.

Sure...

Believe me, I'm not that cruel!

Our dark pasts were written by you? How is it not any of your fault?

But-

You're talking to yourself, I'm fictional, shut up.

Bruh.

It's okay, author, it's been 10 years, you have to let it go.

What the f-

Ruka POV

I'll be honest about my opinion of those who exist in this world, I walked around town, and even though I'm more powerful than everyone here, this Perseus' family is just too ridiculously strong, how do they not explode from having that much power contained within their bodies?

At least this whole thing is going to end soon, we'll stay for one more day at best, and then, we're going to go back to our lovely war-torn world where everyone hates everyone. And this timeline thing...it's quite interesting, if only I had known about it sooner, probably could have gone and found a more normal Perseus, but it's too late now.

Back to my issue though, Perseus sensed it and I sensed it as well, that soul merchant guy's memories had been altered, Perseus knew by reliving it through memories while I checked from the outside, the guy wasn't the end to the mystery, the people who did this wasn't extensive enough, because what kind of slave merchant doesn't know how to make a contract.

It's weird, he doesn't even remember his first kiss despite having a wife, it doesn't even have to be exact...a lot of unanswered quetions.
